FAT is Where it’s At!
Genesis 1:26 – Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
You were given dominion over the created world – authority to do justice and show mercy. Stand up in this dark day to bring light into darkness and redemption to the lost and hurting. It’s what you were made for.
Declaration: I am a good steward of the people, prosperity and promises God has given me. I was created to make wrong things right and point to Jesus.
FAT is Where it’s At!This is an excellent year where you just say, “I’ve decided I’m just gonna be FAT in 2023.” I’m not talking about storing up for the food shortages the globalists have planned for us. I’m talking about a kind of fat that says, “I am blessed because I choose King Jesus and His Kingdom has come to my life.”
I’m going to be faithful this year even when it seems the world is going to hell in the proverbial hand basket. I’m going to be available to the Lord this year like never before. His agenda is going to be my agenda. I’m going to service others and love them into the Kingdom. I’m going to be teachable this year because I want the actual Spirit of the Lord to find me:
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. – Isaiah 11:2
My friend, 2023 is a year to fear the Lord. It is a year to know He alone is God and you are not. You need to know He is the boss, not your bud. He is the King and you are a servant. He is the ultimate Daddy and you are the kid in desperate need of a diaper change.
This is a year to fear the Lord, which means to respect Him so much, you would do anything to keep from disappointing Him. What is sin? Anything that breaks the heart of God. That is why you need the Spirit of the Lord to rest upon you and fill you with wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge and the reverential fear of the Lord – you don’t want to break His amazing, generous heart!
How do you do that? Get FAT. It’s that simple. Be faithful, available and teachable and you will be testifying to the goodness of God in the land of the living this time next year. Mark my words: FAT is where it’s at!

Your Valley of Decision
James 1:25 – But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
Are you blessed in what you do? Remember, your job is not your calling or your purpose. Jesus didn’t come for a “what” but a “who.” Who are you called to love into the Kingdom? Bring them the perfect law of liberty today and be a doer for King Jesus.
Declaration: I will talk the talk and walk the walk in 2023. I will do the Kingdom stuff. I will serve, love and give to others as the Lord has done to me.
Your Valley of DecisionThis is a great year for you to make better decisions and have fewer regrets at the end of the year. Why? Because this is literally a valley of decision year – you’re either for Him or against Him – and God Almighty is calling people off the various fences of compromise in their lives in this hour because He doesn’t want you getting lost in Death Valley. Check this out:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4
The word that the King James boys translated as “shadow of death” is the Hebrew word “rephaim” or giants. While giants were very real in biblical days, today, our giants are just as real and just as deadly: debt, addiction, depression, broken relationships, fear… the list is long, isn’t it?
That valley filled with giants is a place where you either hang on to the shepherd and listen to His voice so you can crush those demonic enemies under your feet, or you can go it alone. Many of us do. We think we are smart enough, strong enough or just enough. Problem is, when you let go of the shepherd, the only thing left is the giants themselves.
See, the giants want you to think they’re your friend. They ain’t gonna hurt you. They just want you to hang out there for a while and do things on their terms. It’ll all be OK if you just compromise a little here and a little there. That, my friend, is the fence I’m talking about. The devil owns that fence and he will eat you for lunch.
Compromise kills! Stop romancing demons, embracing worldly culture and giving your time and attention to media that feeds the lie. Grab the hand of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ Himself, and fight your way out of that valley this year. It’ll be hard, but the reward is great.

Partner for Your Promised Land
Mark 1:24 – …saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
The demons recognized the Messiah and trembled in fear of His holiness. Do you fear the Lord? Do you love Him enough to represent His Name with power, love and a sound mind? Recognize Him in your words and actions and give the devil a bad day every day!
Declaration: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Today I cry, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty Who was, and Who is, and Who is to come!”
Partner for Your Promised LandIn the wilderness, you survive. You fight for victory. In the Promised Land, you are an overcomer and fight from victory. The big difference between the wilderness and the Promised Land is partnership. This is going to be a big deal in 2023.
A partnership between you and God is when heaven wants to invade earth and God Almighty makes Himself vulnerable to us. It’s an amazing thing.
In the wilderness, we make ourselves vulnerable to God. In the Promised Land God actually makes Himself vulnerable and available to us. He says, “Here’s the deal, cowboy. I’m going to empower you to walk in the promises and take it to the next level. This is My heart and I’m counting on you to fulfill your mission.”
Think of it as a marriage because you and I are the Bride of Christ. Right?
This is covenant stuff here. This partnership isn’t just us counting on God. He’s counting on you and I. He really is. He has people He wants delivered from addiction and shame. He has people who need saved, and His plan is for you and I to reach them with our testimony.
I think there’s been way too much of us breaking His heart when He’s given us opportunity to do incredible things and we fall out or lose focus.
Don’t do that! Not this year because this year is crucial to the Kingdom. God is counting on your to partner with Him. That means this relationship is a two way street. He always keeps His end of the bargain. Can you do the same?
For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. – Philippians 2:13

Refuse to Live Like a Refugee?
Proverbs 1:23 – Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.
The Lord chastens, or disciplines, those He loves. He’s a good Father and a good daddy doesn’t spoil you or let you act a fool because he thinks you’re cute. Repent when Daddy God spanks you and you will be restored and then some!
Declaration: I fear the Lord. I repent of ungodly behaviors and ask to be convicted, corrected and trained in righteousness for every good work.
REFUSE TO LIVE LIKE A REFUGEE?My friends, this is a “right now” word for 2023 and don’t miss it! I first wrote this many years ago, but I’m telling you the truth: 2023 is a year for victory despite the hell all around us. Read on as I pull this one out of the vault:
Over the years, I’ve come to know God speaks through the headlines and events all around us. Music is one of His favorite microphones and musicians are often His “accidental” prophets. Take the prophet Tom Petty, for instance.
1979 was not a good year for the singer/songwriter. The pressure of the music business was getting to him. His label, ABC Records, tried to sell his contract to MCA Records without him or this band, The Heartbreakers, knowing it. Angry at the system, defiant and refusing to be a victim, he pushed forward with his new recording. The music reflected his mood.
“Damn the Torpedoes!” struck a chord in our society and became an instant classic. Those three words, “Damn the torpedoes,” were made infamous by US Naval Captain David Farragut as he pushed “full steam ahead” against the odds at the Battle of Mobile Bay to victory in the War of 1812. Somehow, Petty tapped into that spirit. His song “Refugee” was an anthem against defeat with the words:
“Somewhere, somehow, somebody must have kicked you around some.
Tell me, why you wanna lay there and revel in your abandon?
Listen, it don’t make no difference to me. Everybody’s gotta fight to be free.
You see, you don’t have to live like a refugee.”
A refugee is someone without a shelter, a home – a safe place. Refugees struggle to survive because they don’t have a place of protection. Petty was determined to be a survivor. Where was his place of refuge? Was it in Jesus? I don’t know. I do know that album gave Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers a miraculous survivor story.
Miraculous survivor stories always have one thing in common – a place of refuge.
A Japanese businessman survived the bombing of Hiroshima because he was working in a bank vault. An Indonesian woman survived five days at sea when a tsunami carried her away from her family. Her refuge? A floating palm tree. She held on tight, eating the fruit and bark until she was rescued.
Don’t you just love hearing a good survival story? So does God, but He especially loves to write them! He wrote yours!
Jesus knows the importance of refuge. He doesn’t just offer to build you one. He offers to be your refuge. David took him up on the offer. So should you.
“Be merciful to me, oh God. For my soul trusts in you. And in the shadow of your wings, I will make my refuge.” – Psalm 57:1

Murphy’s Law and 23
Proverbs 1:22 – “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge.”
Being angry and offended is easy, but it is not wisdom. As a child of the Most High God, you are called to a ministry of love and reconciliation. Stop being lazy and chase after Jesus in His word and prayer. You need more so get up and get it!
Declaration: I refuse to settle for comfort. I will follow King Jesus wherever He leads, even it the road is hard, dark and rocky.
MURPHY’S LAWWhen we think of “Murphy’s Law” we think of the phrase, “If it could go wrong, it will go wrong.” Well, today I’m talking about a different kind of Murphy’s Law – Audie Murphy’s law – and now it’s a right now word for 2023, death and resurrection life. If you don’t know who Audie Murphy is, he’s a Texan who had everything go against him, but emerged victorious.
During WWII, Murphy was a lieutenant in the Army stationed in France along the German border. In January 1945, his infantry company was besieged by six German tanks. Murphy ordered his men to withdraw to prepared positions in the woods, but remained forward at his command post to give orders to his artillery gunners.
Already in harm’s way, Murphy jumped into action when the American tank behind him was hit and caught fire. Its crew abandoned the burning hulk, but Murphy jumped onto it, using the 50 caliber machine gun against the enemy. Alone and exposed, standing on a ticking time bomb, his deadly fire killed dozens of enemy soldiers.
For an hour, the Germans tried every method of killing Lt. Murphy. He held his position and even wiped out a squad that was trying to out-flank him. Enemy fighters got as close as 10 yards from Murphy, only to be mowed down. At one point, he took a bullet to the leg and kept fighting.
Murphy eventually ran out of ammo, retreated to the woods and organized his men into a successful counter attack. One of his men called it “the greatest dIsplay of guts and courage I have ever seen.” He called Murphy “one in a million.” He truly was.
You see, I believe that God Almighty knew that most people would fail in that situation. He trusted Murphy with that assignment because he knew Murphy was an overcomer.
He knows that about you as well.
I believe there are situations that you don’t have a clue about that, if you are at the right place at the right time, you will make the right decision and you will prosper, prevail and flourish. God can be glorified, your testimony will remain intact and you will be blessed.
There are other situations that you would crash and burn, so to speak. God won’t give you those assignments. He knows you. One of the great things about walking with the Lord is that the longer you’re in His presence, the more you find yourself becoming an overcomer in circumstances you never thought possible.
As a Christian, He promises to lead you into better places. If He leads you there, His plan is for you to be victorious.
Now, I’m no Audie Murphy, but I am victorious. I don’t claim credit for it either. I’m just a guy who has walked with Jesus long enough to be taken into incredible places where the enemy should have defeated me, but didn’t. The Lord knows how to keep me out of places where I will mess up, so it’s best I let Him do the leading even if it’s onto a burning vehicle.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Almost Home
Jude 1:20 – But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit…
The Holy Spirit is a counselor and a comforter. When you connect with Him in your daily life, He will increase your faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, so be a Holy Spirit freak and bring heaven to earth!
Declaration: The Word says we can ask for more faith. I declare an infilling of faith for this day and an outlet to pour it out on the lost and hurting.
ALMOST HOMEAbout 100 years ago, there was a missionary named Samuel Morris. Samuel spent the last 25 years of his life giving medicine and life to people in the darkest regions of Africa.
When he came down with a terminal illness, he decided he wanted to go home to the United States to die. It just so happened, Samuel traveled back to the states on the same ocean liner that brought President Teddy Roosevelt back from his famous African hunting expedition.
When the great ship pulled into New York harbor, it looked like the entire population of the lower 48 had showed up to greet the president.
Bands were playing. Banners were waving. Choirs sang, balloons flew, flashbulbs popped and newsreels were poised to record the return of the nation’s leader. Mr. Roosevelt stepped down the gangplank to thunderous cheers and applause.
At the same time, frail and exhausted, Samuel Morris limped off the boat at the other end. No one was there to greet him. He slowly made his way through the mob, then realized there were no cabs available.
Inside his broken heart, he began to sadly complain, “Lord, the president has been in Africa for three weeks killing animals and the whole world turns out to welcome him home. I’ve been in Africa 25 years serving you and not one person has greeted me or even knows I’m here.”
No sooner had his heart whispered those words than his Lord and Savior replied. “My child, you’re not yet home.”
Let that be His response to you and me. When we start to become too attached to this world, or the people in it, may God remind us that this is temporary. It’s not home.
When we look for the applause, love and attention of others, let Him remind us the homecoming celebration in heaven is worth the wait.
“Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” – Revelation 22:12-13

Your Kids and Your Covenant
Romans 1:20 – For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…
The heavens declare the glory of God. All of creation praises Him. When you worship the created, you cling to something lesser. That is not for you! Go to the source; the creator, and live forever.
Declaration: I worship the One True God and refuse to embrace lesser gods. I give my whole heart to The Father, Son and Holy Spirit today.
YOUR KIDS AND YOUR COVENANTYour blessing lasts long past your life. Really, it does.
Some of you reading this should be dead or in prison, or at the very least dying of some addiction or disease.
You should be miserable, without hope, without peace and without rest. But you somehow knew you were meant for something more – something better – something holy. You heard the voice of God and followed.
You read the words of Christ and knew they were for you. How? Because you had a mama, a daddy or a great, great, great somebody who loved the Lord and that blessing has been passed down to you! That’s why the Holy Spirit is leaping with joy inside you right now.
You are saved. Because of a faithful family member, you were set apart for mercy. And because you are saved, your kids and their kids, and their kids are also set apart for the Lord’s purposes. You might not know how to reach them for Jesus, but God does. Your covenant is extended to your kids!
Oh, my goodness, there is hope in that!
If you have been fearing that your kids will never get saved, have a right mind. Your kids are coming home. If God can save you, He can save anybody!
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” – Acts 2:38-39

Living a Kingdom Mentality
Jeremiah 1:19 – They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.”
What are the forces coming against you, holding you back from your purpose and destiny? Know that it cannot prevail when you stand and let God fight your battles. Run to Him in worship and watch Him take the enemy down!
Declaration: I am dressed in the full armor of God. The Lord has called me to stand as He destroys the darkness coming at me.
LIVING A KINGDOM MENTALITYThe church of Jesus Christ should be kingdom oriented, not a personal empire. Do not ask me to participate in your personal empire, because I want no part of it.
Empires fall without exception, but the kingdom of Jesus Christ will indeed last forever.
And He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end. – Luke 1:33
My life belongs to the Lord. Whatever I can do to build His kingdom, I’ll do it. If that means helping a Baptist brother with his outreach, a Methodist with a mission trip, or the church next door with a revival, I’m there! Why? Because it’s not about me.
It’s about Jesus Christ being glorified. It’s about real people being saved from the clutches of darkness and slavery to Satan – forever separated from God’s goodness! Why would I not want to be a part of that, however I can?
You see, it’s not about building my kingdom or OpenDoor Church. It’s about building God’s awesome kingdom!
The body of Christ is not a worldwide organization. It is a living organism that miraculously grows by the Spirit of God. It transcends race, language, culture, geographical location and generation.
Because of this, we are not building the kingdom – we are the building of the kingdom! This body does not belong to us, but to the Lord Himself. And so it is with our thinking.
My mind belongs to Him and will be used for service to my King. A kingdom mentality keeps me submissive in my thinking and allows Jesus to truly be King, even in the secret areas of my thoughts.

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. – 2 Corinthians 2:15

Warrior Kings
Isaiah 1:18 – “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”
Time is no obstacle to the Lord; neither are your sins. When Jesus shed His perfect blood for you, the clock rolled back on your iniquity. It also rolled forward to cover your future. You are holy and set apart as sinless through the sacrifice of the One.
Declaration: Jesus paid it all! His blood cleanses me past, present and future. I am Holy and set apart for His purposes until my final breath.
WARRIOR KINGSI’m not a fan of the Spartans. They were merciless, racist, pagans who also destroyed my namesake city with a stinking wooden horse. However, I have to give them credit for the warriors they produced.
Almost 500 years before Christ, a Spartan army of only 300 men held off a million or so armed and angry Persians at a place called Thermopylae. They were led by the legendary King Leonidas. I do love Leonidas!
Leonidas wasn’t just a king sitting on a golden throne ordering troops to go fight for him. He was a warrior king. He fought out front of his men and invited them to fight with him. I love the idea of a warrior king!
Although Alexander the Great had some very real faults, he too, was a warrior king willing to get into the fray. In one of his final battles, it is said he ran so far ahead of his men that he actually engaged an entire army by himself. With an arrow in his lung and a sword in his fist, Alexander the Great fought until his men subdued the enemy.
That’s why I love Jesus. You see, real Christians don’t just serve a king. They serve a passionate, fearless, warrior king.
The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. – Exodus 15:3
While we will never be out in front of our God as He fights for us, we can and should fight for His glory. After all, He is unlike any warrior king before Him. He is compassionate, approachable, full of mercy and the servant of all. Yes, true leaders are servants, and we as the body of Christ need to embrace this fact!
Show me Christians who are not just talking about the love of God, but demonstrating it through the hard work it takes to serve the poor and needy. I want to battle with people who are living proof God never consults your history before giving you a future.

The Mind of Christ?
James 1:17 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
The Lord is not a man that He should lie nor a son of man that He should repent. He does not change His mind nor His plan – especially about you! His plan for you is good and you will always belong to Him. Fear not!
Declaration: I am a child of the Most High God. Nothing can snatch me from His hand. I follow only Him and stick with my tribe in these end days!
THE MIND OF CHRISTYou need to make one of the most important decisions of your life: are you going to let the mind of Christ be in your head, or are you going to allow the thinking of this world to lead your thoughts?
It is God’s desire that you submit how you think about things to the way God Almighty thinks about things. It is here that your reasoning becomes Holy Spirit led. That’s where you begin to have a mind that is full of life, pleasing to the Lord.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: – Philippians 2:5
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: – Isaiah 1:18
If you and I are reasoning together with the Lord, we are partnering with Him to not only think how He thinks, but act like He acts. When we do this, we reflect Jesus and that’s the whole point of being part of the family of God – to show a family resemblance!
The more you think like God, the more you will look and act like Him. Knowing He is love, light, good, righteous and pure, you and I should be begging every day to have the mind of Christ.
Well, good news! We don’t have to beg because heirs are part of the family, not beggars! All we have to do to have the mind of Christ is freeze out ungodly thoughts and replace them with thankfulness, praise, worship and anything admirable or good.
When you refuse to get a Christ-centered worldview, or get addicted to the thrill of anger, the high of being offended and the adrenaline rush that is rage, that’s when you partner with hell. That hell will be the only thing people see as your witness is crushed by wrong thinking, followed by wrong actions.
Hear me now: that’s not you! You’re the child of the Most High God and a part of the family!
