Robert Stephen Parry is a UK writer of adult historical fiction, bringing you stories from a wide range of time periods - from Tudor & Elizabethan, through 18th-century Georgian, right up to the era of Victorian England and the Belle Époque. Well researched and vivid historical settings combine with unusual elements of mystery, humour and romance.

On a lighter note, he has also collaborated recently with the distinguished avian writer, A.Robin, Esq. in providing the illustrations for the book 'The Magnificent British Garden Robin'.

A Question of Good & Evil

I imagine that for many of us, if given the opportunity to ask God a question - just one question - it might be something on the lines of 'Why do you allow so much evil and suffering to exist in the world?'
Well, that certainly is a pretty serious question. And no, I can't provide an answer either.

“A man should not glory in what he already knows but in what he has yet to learn.”
Robert Parry, Virgin And The Crab: Sketches, Fables And Mysteries From The Early Life Of John Dee And Elizabeth Tudor

“Writing a novel is a bit like making a sword. First, you take all the raw material and melt it down in a crucible, then you take it to the anvil and hammer out as many of the impurities as possible before folding and turning the whole thing over on itself and hammering it out again. The more often you can fold it over and incorporate another layer the stronger it will be. Finally, put an edge on it, give it a handle to show to the world, and the job's done. The result should be something flexible and elegant; perfectly balanced, of suitable length and, above all with a point to it.”
Robert Parry

“I believe we do well to fall asleep each night with books. We enter the library of our dreams in good company then.”
Robert Stephen Parry, The Hours Before
