Shannon Baker is the author of the Nora Abbott mystery series from Midnight Ink. A fast-paced mix of Hopi Indian mysticism, environmental issues, and murder. Shannon is an itinerant writer, which is a nice way of saying she’s confused. She never knows what time zone she’s in, Timbuck-Three, Nebraska, Denver, or Tucson. Nora Abbott has picked up that location schizophrenia and travels from Flagstaff in Tainted Mountain, to Boulder in Broken Trust and then to Moab in Tattered Legacy. Shannon is proud to have been chosen Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers’ 2014 Writer of the Year. Visit Shannon at www.Shannon-Baker.com

So, now the mystery of the JFK assassination is answered! But Berney created a story where that is the least impactful issue going on. I loved this book. I listened to it in one sitting as I drove from Arizona to Colorado and I hated to have to stop ...more

“Because the goal in writing is always to get to the truth of a character, dig inside and find out what drives them and how they feel, I think there is a part of me in every character I write.”
Shannon Baker

“For me, the first and foremost challenge is plotting. How can I take all these really cool facts and other things I learn in research and fit them all together and add danger and intrigue and make it all keep building to a heart-stopping conclusion? After that is the sometimes plodding drudgery of getting it out of my head and onto paper (or screen). Now, I’m finding the push of marketing to be a challenge. So to sum this up: Plotting, Plodding, and Pushing.”

Beth Hi Shannon,
Thanks for befriending me here as well as in real-life and a very happy new year to you!
- Beth

Shannon I just added The Daily Coyote to my reading list. Sometimes I get a little disdainful of "city folk" who take the romance of living off the land like it's quaint and cute, or a modern day version of Walden Pond. Then again, sometimes I really identify with their experience.

Darlene I finished The Daily Coyote which is wonderful and controversial. Also just finished Hunt for Justice by Lucinda Delaney Schroeder who was a special agent with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. She lives here in Montrose and is coming to my house this week for give a presentation to my book club - fascinating!
