Becoming A Winner (Children's Books)
0 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:32PM
Description: Becoming a Winner! We follow Charlie the Horse as he leaves home to receive his education, and it’s great fun to hear his thoughts about his experiences. An older racehorse, The General, tells Charlie that it is important not to give up if he has a bad day. As Charlie learns about being a racehorse, he remembers those words often, and in the end, by working hard, he reaches his goal. With clear and relaxed writing, Deanie Humphrys-Dunne lets Charlie the Horse pass on this important message to his readers. Charlie learns through trial and error how to become a winning racehorse, and through his thoughts, his story inspires his readers to do their best and not let temporary setbacks discourage them. I look forward to joining Charlie and his family and friends for more adventures! A Charming Story about Finding Your Talent and Working Hard to Achieve Your Dreams (Children's Books)
2 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:32PM
Description: 5.0 out of 5 stars Charming Story about Finding Your Talent and Working Hard to Achieve Your Dreams, March 3, 2011 By Sherry Ellis - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) This review is from: Charlene the Star (Paperback) Charlene is a beautiful red horse who was born into a family of outstanding racehorses. Her father, mother, and big brother are all champion racers. Charlene, however, discovers that racing just isn't her thing. Fortunately, her trainers see this, and offer a different path: she becomes a show horse, competing in jumping events. This suits her perfectly, and she becomes a champion. Charlene the Star is a lovely story that would appeal to kids age 7-12. The dialog between the animals is delightful. It's fun to be "inside" a horse's head to know what the animal is thinking. There is also a sweet friendship that develops between Charlene and a big dog named Elliott. Elliott proves to be a very supportive friend when Charlene needs him. The inherent message of the book is to find your talent and then work hard to develop it. This is a nice message that young kids need to hear. Charlene the Star is a enjoyable read, and one that I would recommend.
