But I don’t wanna!

I don’t wanna use this blog to teach you the craft of writing.

I don’t wanna use this blog as a platform to promote self-publishing. Except to say what works for me may or may not work for you.

Frankly what I wanna do is write and this broken finger is cramping my style.

What am I doing in media terms? Reading voraciously.

Just finished:

Black Light (A Bob Lee Swagger novel), by Stephen Hunter

In the Land of Invisible Women, A Female Doctor’s Journey in the Saudi Kingdom, by Qanta A. Ahmed, MD

Well, I don’t know about you…

but I’m exhausted. Big football Sunday, house guests just departed…

There’s only one thing left to say after the ‘Niners demise in Seattle– Go Broncos!

Two videos that make me smile. I’m a sucker for sports-ish commercials.

And this:

Trying not to jynx it!

Gettin’ ready for the big game – the ‘Niners vs the Seahawks. It’s gonna get ugly, my friends.

Regardless, if one is a football fan, one is obligated to put out a football spread. Football food is an essential part of fandom. My contribution will be tuna cream cheese chili dip with veggies, pine nut humus with pita chips, artichoke dip with jalapenos, salsa and chips. And beer. Lots of beer.

Go ‘Niners!

I feel like Sally Field – Somebody ‘gets’ me.

The reviewer got the story. She really really got it.

Head over to Amazon and read the most recent review for Captured, my Science Fiction Romance and, frankly, my favorite work. I can’t quote the review here, that’s against Amazon’s policy. But I’m telling you, this reviewer grokked the story. Made me fuckin’ cry.

So you can stop sticking those pins in that voodoo doll now.

I was talking with J.W. Manus the other day about my broken foot.

Yeah, shaddup. I’m a klutz. This is not news to me.

Except it was kinda funny in that when one smacks one’s foot against the bed post, typically one hops up and down, cussing for 3-5 minutes. This was more rolling on the floor screaming and cussing for 15-20 minutes.

You see, I was about to take Jake for his evening walk so I says, “Hey Jake, we’re gonna go for a walk but first I need to put the birds to bed.” (Jake knows this mea...

Seriously belated update.

I’m dreaming…

Well, it’s like this — have house guests and, uh, just like in 2013, loads of personal stuff going on all at once. I’m hoping for an opportunity to write. I’m currently (not) writing an interesting novel. Working title? Caleb Wiseman. We’ll see. I may be too busy to give the WIP its due– about a third of the way through– but I’m dreaming about it, one chapter at a time. I’m super excited about this book, just don’t have much free time.

Still waiting to hear if the finger needs sur...

Meow… Oh my poor kitty-cat. (My for real cat.)

Ichi-ban (Number One) is a Norwegian Forest Cat. Here’s an image of a Norwegian Forest Cat:

Norwegian Forest Kitten.

Norwegian Forest Kitten.

Here’s Ichi:

Ichi.

Ichi.

Here’s a great video – Ichi to a tee. He’s a beautiful, fluffy, tough, intelligent, healthy, long-lived cat. He has a mane in the winter which sheds out in the summer. He has long hair in his ears and pretty much wears mittens on all his feet. Animal Planet, Norwegian Forest Cats.

Ichi is an exceptional cat with an exceptional story. But he’s also the reason I can...

Bear with me, or should I say… Bare with Me?

Should Bare with Me be the title of my next book? Whaddya think?

Just kidding. Sort of…

I have a lot going on. So much that I’m tearing out my hair.

I will be back as soon as possible. Word of warning– could be several weeks.

I have scheduled more freebies – I’ll tweet when the books become available.

As Tom would say, Lurv ya’s! Oh, and read those dang books I recommended! Be good. Julia

Recipe Request – Hibiscus Syrup.

Lookie!

Lookie!

When ‘Oscar’ and I attended the Michelin Gala in San Francisco, we were greeted at the door with the most luscious delicious decadent ruby-colored sparkling wine cocktail. I had to know what it was, so I asked one of the bartenders as he made my third drink— yes, my third. Occasionally, if something is really good, I will indulge.

He showed me a bottle of hibiscus syrup complete with hibiscus blossoms floating around the bottom of the bottle like little red octopi. So cute! Except I ref...
