Saturday Snark!
It's Saturday Snark time again! Since it's Halloween weekend, I wanted to do something spooky. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have a lot of spooky snark, so I decided to go with something from my Scooby-Doo story. For those who don't know, this isn't a real story. It's just random silliness. But it does have a bit of snark.
"Okay!" I said. "Stop teasing my dog! Let's get the fire going. I'm starving."
"What are we having for dinner?" Angelo asked.
Matt didn't answer, but pulled a package of hot dogs out of the cooler and tossed them to Ang.
"Why'd you buy the small ones?" Angelo asked, looking down at the package with obvious disappointment. "They make big ones you know."
Matt gave him a wicked smile, and asked teasingly, "You need a bigger one?"
Angelo pinned him with a withering glare. "You did not just make the hot dog-penis joke."
Matt laughed, and Zach said with a smile, "Somebody had to do it."
Angelo rolled his eyes. "It's like a bad movie. Buncha lame-ass barely-disguised sex jokes. I hate shit like that."
"I guess we won't talk about the buns then."

3. Which of my stories involves a lost shoe?

Saturday Snark!
This week's snark comes from my upcoming novella, Blind Space. (It was surprisingly hard to find snark in this one.)
"I've never had a blind man cause so much trouble."
Still with the amusement. I wished he were angry.
"I suppose that will teach them to assume too much," he continued.
"I wasn't trained to quit."
"None of your men fought like you."
"Fucking bastards!" I wasn't sure if I meant him or my waste of a crew.
He apparently assumed I meant his band of pirates. He laughed. "Yes, I suppose we are."

GayRomLit
(Joined at the hip at GayRomLit)
I have now returned from GayRomLit, and oh my god, it was SO much fun! For those of you who missed it, I hope you'll be able to join us next year in Albuquerque. For a full rundown, go here. That's the beginning of the trip, but you can scroll through the posts right up until the end.
[image error]For the past few months, I've been draggin my feet. I could give you this really long story about Heidi, and tarot readings, and a recurring goddess theme. I could tell you about my oracle cards, and what they meant to me. But really, it probably doesn't matter to anybody but me. The short version is this: for the last few weeks, I have been trying to be open to opportunity. I have tried to be alert for new and exciting options. And the fact is, I think I've found them. Or maybe, they've found me.
First, a friend I've known since junior high challenged me to take part in NaNoWriMo for the first time ever. A also had a great conversation with my Total E-Bound editor in New Orleans, and so my plan right now is to tackle an Oestend spinoff in November.
Second, a couple of weeks ago, I sent Cinder to Rowan Speedwell to beta-read. She gave me some excellent feedback. That feedback led to a conversation about her history degree (I have one, too, but I specialized in Cold War, which just doesn't make for great romance) and her love of the SCA. I told her of the historical m/m project I've secretly longed to write for the last two years, but confessed that I'm too lazy to do the research. We talked more on the train to New Orleans, and we decided to see if we could write this project together. Rowan is doing NaNo as well, so we're aiming to tackle this project in December. Ambitious, aren't we?
Finally, I had a talk with Anel Viz at GayRomLit. It's sort of a long story, but the short version is that something he said gave me renewed impetus to tackle The Chicago Project. Our plan all along was to pick this project back up at the first of the year, and we have (at least loosely) recommitted to that plan.
So, three projects in three months. And that doesn't even count the one I'm currently writing. Am I insane? Possibly, yes. Will I succeed at all of these? Possibly not. But I am excited about them all, and I think that counts for something. I should also add that I'm scheduled to have surgery on November 4th. On one hand, it might wear me out. On the other hand, I have a perfectly good excuse for sitting on my ass for several weeks afterward. I may as well spend them writing.

Saturday Snark!
I'm in NOLA this weekend at GayRomLit (along with a few of you!), but there's still time for…
I think Angelo's wondering why it took me so long to get to him with my Saturday Snark. This little snippet comes from Paris A to Z.
"Look what I bought," he said to me as we were driving home. He held out a book for me to see. It had a ridiculously outdated black cover. The title, which was printed in hot pink and neon orange bubble letters, said, Paris A to Z.
"Is that a guidebook?"
"Yeah. I found it in the travel section," he said, and I thought it was funny that he was apparently quite proud of it.
"How old is it?"
He checked the copyright date, and grinned over at me. "Really old, Zach. Came out the same year you were born."
(And for the record, this book actually exists. It was quite helpful.)

Saturday Snark!!
Today's Saturday Snark comes to you courtesy of Jaime and Levi from Between Sinners and Saints.
Jaime started the massage that day the way he often did, by putting his hands under the back of Levi's neck and pulling gently, and Levi couldn't help but laugh. "I think one of these days my head's going to pop off while you're doing that."
"I hope not," Jaime said. "It's such a pain in the ass when that happens. I'm running out of places to hide the bodies."
It was easy to forget Jaime really did have a slightly dark sense of humor under his Boy Scout facade, and it made Levi laugh again. "Exactly how many times has it happened?"
"I've lost count, to tell you the truth. But you'll notice my garden gets a little bigger every year."
"That's not funny."
"No, it's not. On the bright side, my tomatoes love it. My neighbor keeps asking for my secret."

Quick Update
Just a quick little update.
First of all, I've sold two stories to Silver Publishing in the past couple of months. Blind Space is my space pirate story, and it is tentatively scheduled for release in early January. The second story is Cinder. I have no idea when it will be released. I'm guessing March, but that really is nothing more than a guess.
Second, I leave on Monday for GayRomLit in New Orleans! For those of you who will be there, I can't wait to meet you! For everybody else, please make sure you stay tuned to mine and Heidi's official HaMEMA website for lots of fun updates and photos.
Saturday Snark will continue while I'm on my trip, so make sure you stop by and check that out.
And now, I shall leave you with this:
Enjoy!

Saturday Snark!
Today's snark is one of my favorite little exchanges from my first novel, Promises.
There was a cup of coffee waiting for me on the counter when I emerged from the shower. He was staring into the fridge with a frown on his face.
"Why do you have so much mustard, anyway?"
"It's Eddy Mac mustard."
"What?"
"You know—Ed McCaffrey. He used to play for the Broncos. He makes mustard now, and the money goes to some charity. I was trying to do my part."
He gave me the pseudo-grin. "You're such a philanthropist."

Saturday Snark!
This week's Saturday Snark comes from my newest novel, Song of Oestend.
"I woke up in the morning and you were gone. I figured that was your way of telling me you didn't want it to happen again."
"No," Deacon said, looking amused. "That was my way of telling you I had chores to do before breakfast."

Meet an Author Monday
Hello, and welcome to my site! For those who are following the Meet an Author blog hop, let me introduce myself. I'm Marie Sexton, author of gay romance. I live in beautiful Colorado. I'm an animal lover, a football fan, a total sap, and a bit of a cheese fanatic.
Most of my work is part of loosely-connected Coda series.
Mountain bikers, grumpy cops, playboys, workaholics, slackers and ex-street punks with commitment problems–what do they all have in common?
They all have a place in Coda, Colorado, the tiny town with the spectacular scenery–and the mountains aren't bad either. Whether you live in Coda, visit, or just know folks from your past, you will find the place accommodating, the passions high, and the romance hot and satisfying.
The primary novels in the Coda series are Promises, A to Z, and Strawberries for Dessert. Strawberries for Dessert won 2nd place in the 2010 Rainbow Awards for Contemporary Gay Romance. It was also chosen by both Smart Bitches, Trashy Books and Sarah Frantz of Dear Author as one of the best romances of 2010.
The Coda books are all connected, but they also stand alone. You can find out more about what orders they can be read in here.
My newest books are Between Sinners and Saints (a contemporary about a playboy bartender and his massage therapist) and Song of Oestend (my first non-contemporary – it's sort of a frontier day alternate universe with a haunted house, killer wraiths, and mild bondage). You can find out more about all of my books here.
I'm also one of the keepers of a naughty little blog called Coffee and Porn in the Morning. I run this site with my friend and fellow author Heidi Cullinan. We have all kinds of fun, pervy pictures, and ebook giveaways every Friday. Please check us out!
Thanks to everybody for stopping by! Be sure to check out the other authors on the Meet an Author Blog Hop. Click on the icon at the top of this post to be taken back to Lisa Sanchez's blog, or follow some of the links below.
