Megan Whitson Lee’s self-published novel, Captives, won the 2016 Director's Choice Award and was a 2016 Selah Award finalist at Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference. Her most recent contemporary novel, Suburban Dangers, was released in June 2017 through Pelican Book Group. Megan has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from George Mason University. She teaches high school English in Virginia, where she lives with her husband and two greyhounds. She is also an editor for Pelican Book Group.


An Anglophile and a recovering runaway, Megan used to regularly escape to England and Australia. These days, she lives a relatively quiet life and escapes by writing novels instead of jumping on planes to foreign countries.

I churn along writing until I hit a certain point in the story where the ideas stagnate. I have to make myself push past those points. Sometimes I skip over them, move on to a more exciting part of the story I know is coming up, and later I'll return to those plateaus. Currently, I'm trying to employ James Scott Bell's writing method and compose my work-in-progress from the middle of the novel. (less)
