Almost over jet lag!

I’m finally beginning to get over jet lag a week after coming back from Tokyo—by next weekend I figure I’ll be back to normal.

I’m ba-a-ack!

I haven’t actually been gone, I’ve just been extra super busy—which is saying a lot, since I’m usually super busy.

Organization and the untrained eye

I continue to be completely thrilled with my virtual assistant, Adriel. Not only is she taking over tasks that I can do—if I want to do them instead of write, but she’s also super organized, which is so awesome!!!

If you saw my office—which at the moment I’d call “reasonably tidy”—you might question my organizational abilities, and perhaps chuckle if I mentioned that I consider organizing one of my superpowers.

Cats and luck!

I’m very, very pleased to report that my taxes are done! Hooray! For the first time ever I put most of the information together in December, so the final bit was extremely easy. The end was even easier since my super awesome accountant did the hard work, at least from my perspective.

I finished two new things!

I recently finished editing a new short story, and sent it off for review! I think the editors for this collection will like it, but you never know. Or they might like it but feel it’s not a good fit for this particular collection. Having put together a bunch of collections myself, I’ve learned that a story can be fantastic, but if it doesn’t fit the theme, or if it doesn’t mesh well with the other stories, then it’s not a good fit for the collection as a whole. But in this particular case, I...

Who knew?!?

My new mattress is made from fishing line! Yes, fishing line. Check it out!

Our mattress looks like a collection of scrubby pads.

Easy peasy!

For the past few weeks it’s been all fairy tales, all the time—but it’s time to move on! At least for a while… I’ve started planning the next issue of the fairy tale anthology series I edit, but it’s in the super early stages, so I can safely ignore that for a few weeks. Which is a good thing, because I have 3 short stories to finish, and edits to do for another anthology.

I love exclamation points!!!!!

Way too many things have been happening! I published an anthology, have stories in two other new collections, have a novel in an ebook bundle, and I’ve stopped coloring my hair!

I actually stopped coloring my hair back in October, but used spray-on color (brown) until about a month ago. The spray-on stuff works really well when you’re trying to camouflage your roots, but by the time your roots are an inch or so long you have to use so much spray that it makes your hair a little frizzy—and a l...

The best laid plans…

My grand plans for 2019 are well underway! I haven’t actually written them down, of course. So I don’t really know exactly what I’m planning yet. But it feels like I’m on track, so I must be. Right?

Another year begins, with grand plans!

I’ve never been the kind of person to set goals at the start of the new year. I’ve always felt that any goals I set should be set when I think of them, not be tied to the calendar. This is also why I haven’t yet participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo, which is every November). I figure I should treat every month like it’s a novel-writing month. Not that I do, of course. And many, many authors have written wonderful books during NaNoWriMo that they might never have finished ot...
