DRONES trailer
I mentioned that, last week, I signed at Borders with the wonderful Amber Benson. In addition to her latest book, CAT'S CLAW, she's also promoting a movie, DRONES. She's one of the creative forces behind it.

SUPERNATURAL 4/01/10
Okay, as if my day hasn't been sucky enough, they voted my favorite person off of SURVIVOR. I did not need that on top of everything else, island people.
But I did spend much of the night also watching BREAKING BAD, my new obsession, and I have never seen a program that offered so much profound depression and laugh-my-butt-off hilarity in the same hour. Genius show.
On to another program that knows how to do it right!

Neverending Panel
Back in February, I went to a small San Diego fantasy conference called Con-Dor. There, I was fortunate enough to meet new author friends, Dani Kollin and Eytan Kollin. These brothers collaborate on a Sci-Fi series, and right out of the gate, their first book, THE UNINCORPORATED MAN, has been nominated for a Prometheus Award. Huge!
They have a great website called the Neverending Panel, where they interview industry pros and present fun geek topics, such as the defense of bad movies. When ...

Signing Today with Amber Benson!
Today at 2pm, I have a signing at the Las Vegas Blvd. Borders with Amber Benson. Her most recent book is CAT'S CLAW, and you probably know that mine is DEEP IN THE WOODS. Both titles sound kind of creepy, huh? Good creepy.

SUPERNATURAL 3/25/10
It feels like eons since I posted my last water cooler! Wow. In that time, one of my wonderful critique partners, Judy Duarte, finaled in the RITA contest in the Inspirational category for ENTERTAINING ANGELS! It's a superb book, and I'm incredibly happy that she's been recognized for her work the second year in a row!
(applause time for Judy)
More applause that SUPERNATURAL is back, please.
Let's get to the nitty gritty.

I've missed those faces. Those shoulders. Those boys.

Vampire Babylon Short Story
I've just gotten word that the anthology that will include my upcoming Vampire Babylon short story has been pushed back to March 2011. I thought it would be coming out in the fall, but there's been a change in distribution for the publishing house--and it's a good change, meaning that it'll be available in more places!
The book's title is THOSE WHO FIGHT MONSTERS, and it has some *really* great authors in it. Here's the list:
C.T. Adams and Cathy Clamp
Rachel Caine

Book Giveaway at Nalini Singh's blog!
I'm giving away A DROP OF RED and THE PATH OF RAZORS (Vampire Babylon, books 4 & 5) at the fantastic Nalini Singh's blog. I've got ANGEL'S BLOOD up near the top of my TBR and I can't wait to read it! Meanwhile, my blog subject concerns pop culture influences on my writing (like--surprise--STAR WARS. But how the heck does that fit in to Vampire Babylon...?).

Wrapping Up
Phew. I would say that there's a day on every manuscript when I go from Commando Robot Girl Mode to "ahhhh, that's better." Today was that day.
It happens after I write those last few chapters, then go back to give them a first polish. After that, there's a definite downslope of the old stress level. Hopefully, after that first polish, the major problems are taken care of. Then I can polish a little more and, soon afterward, off the MS goes to my editor!

Hey-ho
Busy week! Running around doing stock signings for DEEP IN THE WOODS, finishing the work in progress (the Montana Mavericks Special Edition due out in October), etc.
BTW, Mysterious Galaxy has signed copies of DITW. Here's the link if you're interested in those or in autographed books from my backlist:

And Corey Haim died. How awful is that? They think right now that it was an accidental overdose. It seems we're hearing this story a lot lately. ...
