Cover Art

In the past, I've gotten queries about the cover art on my Vampire Babylon books. Larry Rostant is the artist, and believe me when I say that I lucked out when he was assigned to me!

For a peek at more of his amazing work, here's his web site:

You can thank him for making you drool to read certain books. : )

Speaking at RWA-SD meeting this weekend!

I'll be doing a "Critique Group Therapy" workshop this weekend with my critique partner Judy Duarte for the RWA San Diego chapter this Saturday. Judy and I are going to talk about how our critique group works, then do some actually critiquing of pages that the RWA members have submitted. Mwa-ha-ha! (Actually, we're very kind--honest but not brutally honest!)

Here's info:

Also, I'm going to be on a big panel at Comic-Con this year. Charlaine Harris is on ...

Phew

It's always a relief when you hit a point in your Work In Progress where you feel as if you're standing on firmer ground. I realized recently that my current WIP--the third Bloodlands book--has a major outlaw element. In fact, there's some Bonnie and Clyde stuff going on--western urban fantasy paranormal style, of course. : ) I'm looking forward to getting deep into that part.

That's what it's all about, writers!

And they're off...

I'm on chapter four of the third BLOODLANDS book now (post-apocalyptic urban fantasy western, 2011). Phew. I wasn't sure how I wanted to start this one, but I've got the first couple of chapters in place and it doesn't feel sucky. : ) I'll feel even better after I've polished them though.

This one is going to be fun... Bonnie & Clyde type vibe with the heroine and hero... Some pretty dark stuff (What's new?)... New monsters to play with... Revenge and reckoning, paranormal style....

Earworm of the Day

Now, I know that you guys have experienced days when you're trying so very hard to get work done, but it's not happening because there's a certain song playing over and over and over in your head.

Here's mine today:

Thank you, Quentin Tarantino and DEATH PROOF!

Anne Boleyn: Vampire?

I'm a big Anglophile who loves to read about Tudor England in particular. So, in spite of the already played out trend of "What if so-and-so was a vampire/hunter/zomie/whatever," my interest was caught by this upcoming book:

Oh, to see Henry VIII get his butt kicked by a woman/vampire scorned....
