Years in the making...Pilate's Cross is finally going to be in the Amazon Kindle store this week.

Why the wait? Basically it's because I initially published the book at Smashwords--the greatest ebook distributor in the world. They get your book into every retailer...B&N, Kobo, Sony, Diesel, iBooks....just not Amazon.
Try as they might, they've never been able to broker a deal with Amazon.

So, after waiting two years (and too long) I uploaded the book myself. It was easy and I have no excuse for waiting so long, but there it is.

So, it should be in the Kindle Store by Wednesday July 13. A good day for a good read, I'd say. I hope you'll check it out, tell your friends, write a review and most of all...enjoy John Pilate's first adventure.

Amazed I tell you! I'm just amazed that Pilate's Cross made it to the top 12,000 in the Kindle store last weekend. Good times.

For you John Pilate fans...the wait is almost over for book two: Pilate's Key. I just hope you still like John after this one.

Flawed doesn't begin to cover this guy--and when he's let loose by himself in Key West? Fugetaboutit.

Well, "by himself" may not be accurate. Simon may also be there.

If you haven't read Pilate's Cross this makes no sense, I'm sure. So why not give it a read--and then by November you'll be ready for the next adventure with our hapless hero.

Hello to my new Goodreads friends!

If you like quirky mystery/thrillers, I hope you'll read Pilate's Cross. If you like it, I have it on good authority (my early critique readers) that you will really like the second book, Pilate's Key, which will be available in late November.

Just head over to Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Smashwords to get your 99-cent copy of Pilate's Cross and you'll be ready to go when Key hits the shelves.

My new book, Pilate's Key is the long-awaited (by at least two people) sequel to Pilate's Cross. It will launch as an ebook in late November, then as a POD paperback in December. Any writers--particularly of the mystery/thriller/suspense genres-- interested in a review copy?

If so, I'd love to have your review on Goodreads, Amazon, etc--and if you're amenable, I may excerpt it for a blurb on the paperback's back cover and elsewhere. If you're interested, just leave a comment or email me: author@pilatescross.com and I'll make sure you get an ebook copy as soon as it's ready.

Thanks. Also, I'm always up for a review myself (mystery, thriller, horror, suspense are favs)--particularly over the holiday season when the day job and everything else slows down a wee bit and I've more time to read.

I have five or six trusted "readers" who read the second-to-last draft of my books to tell me what I did right, wrong and merely acceptably. They're also great at catching typos and inconsistent grammar before I send it to the editor. Anyway...the next book is the follow up to Pilate's Cross titled 'Pilate's Key.'

Here's the gist:

* Less self-conscious writing (which is good for a sophomore effort)
* Lighter, more fun story and characters
* Reads more like a mainstream midlist mystery/thriller (Hey, that may mean it will sell!)
* Great pacing and dialogue

Some didn't care for the ending (for reasons I cannot go into--spoilers); others thought the main character did some jerky things...but I can't change that. Characters are supposed to be human. Humans do jerky things.

Anyway, the book should be available for your fav ereader by mid-November. Should be out in paperback by mid-December (fingers crossed).

Don't forget, if your dream is to write a blurb that appears on a book jacket, all you have to do is read an advance copy of 'Key' and write a review on Amazon. I'll be sampling early reviews for inclusion on the paperback.

Life's A Beach for John Pilate…

On the mend from a near-death experience in the snowy Midwest, John Pilate is taking it easy on the sun-soaked beaches of Key West. Umbrella drink in hand, Pilate is writing a book and getting some much-needed therapy to deal with his imaginary friend Simon. He's also pondering the future with his new love, Kate. Life is looking up for John Pilate…until he is drawn into a world of murder, pirates, conch fritters and smart aleck remarks from invisible men.

He has blood on his hands, a mysterious poker chip in his pocket, shadows over his shoulder and a sexy cop in his bed. John Pilate is in trouble again--and the only way out is to find the key…Pilate's Key.

Pilates Key is the second in the John Pilate series. Pick up Pilate's Cross before Pilate's Key hits the shelves in December!
