Near where I grew up, in Fitchburg, MA there is a large Finnish community. It's smaller than it was when I was a kid, because a lot of the first generation immigrants have passed on, but there's still a Finnish presence in the area...although I'm not sure anyone but the Finns are aware of it, since they tended to be farmers and didn't open visible businesses like pizza places or Chinese restaurants when they came over.

Heikki Thought as much, and yes, Koivu, Koivunen, Koivula, Koivisto etc. are very common here (what with all the birches we have).

I once visited Marquette, MI, which is chock full of people with Finnish surnames. It was surreal.
