She loves contemporary YA, survival stories of all kinds, and journeys large and small. She is an amateur trash-picker and apologizes now if she has ever poached anything you did not mean to leave on the curb. She hates caraway seeds.

I love birthdays. I usually make mine into a week-long event. I like to share food and drinks with friends or drag everyone who’s willing to a minor league baseball game or to the beach for the day. Somewhere between a 3 and 4. I love the concept but didn't like the narrative structure -one character telling most of the story to another character. She's so talented but this was not my favorite of hers. ...more

This is an important book and like the journey itself it is at times a page-turner, a heart-wrencher and in moments a bit relentless.
