Shadowlands Prep – The Climb #561
I’m almost resolved that there’s no way I will get the Brontosaur mount in World of Warcraft before Shadowlands. I’m 3 million short and given my servers economy I doubt there’s any practical way of accomplishing it.
There’s a chance it will appear in the black market auction house in the future, but if it does it will be far more than the current 5 million asking price. And as much as I tell myself that this expansion I’ll finally become a master gold maker and be ...

Productivity Systems Are Like Walking Sticks – The Climb #560
I’ve been caring for pets and ol’ crispy (as they are now known) for just over a week now, but it seems like a lot longer.
As a result, a lot of my own tasks and jobs have been put on hold. There was a time when recovering from that would have been a nightmare, as I scrambled to remember what I needed to be doing and what project was where. However, I know bringing myself back up to speed won’t be a massive ball ache.
This is the thing I’ve learnt about productivity s...

New Concept Ideas – The Climb #559
Understandably, my mind has been removed from anything creative at the moment, instead remaining in a state of hyper-vigilance as I care for a burns victim while they recover. And because I’ve not had any active projects with deadlines, the fact I’ve not been creative has not been a bother. There’s no good time for these sorts of traumas to occur, but there could have been a lot of worse times.
But today I found my brain starting to want to create. Ideas are a weir...

Victory Umbrella – The Climb #558
It’s been a week since Craig burnt himself. It seems both no time at all and months ago.
He’s getting more independent. He took the dog out for a short walk today. It’s important that he get some independence and I don’t want his facial burns keeping him. It was also important for me to be able to step back a little and let him do things,
Biggest problem was picking up dog poop with his left hand without getting it on himself. I’m just glad he felt up to going o...

Paying Attention – The Climb #557
Craig will talk about how, after the fire, he’ll get sensations of the fire running up his arm.
I’ve been on edge for a week. I work best when I have something to do and for the last week, it’s been looking out for him. I’ve carved some time out for me, and taking my xbox round to his was part of that. But we watched TV tonight and I just couldn’t relax.
We were watching a documentary and he was flitting between watching it and typing on his phone. For some reason,...

Home Time – The Climb #556
I got a couple of hours to myself today. Whilst Craig was off to Bristol for an outpatients appointment, I got time to go back home and have a little me time. Admittedly most of this consisted of doing washing, having a shower and popping to Tescos for food for the next couple of days, but I managed to update The Climb which was majorly behind.
Writing up those editions, allowed me to process a little of what’s happened over the last few days. I still seem to be handli...

Home Care – The Climb #555
Craig’s first night was a bit rough. I looked in on him when I woke up and he seemed to be sleeping but he somehow managed to break his sling.
Every couple of hours he needs to wash his face. The ointment he uses causes it to crystalise over his wounds. So washing it off has to be done carefully otherwise it feels like sandpaper. Bits of skin (specks rather than flaps) come off as well, so the process is slow, meticulous and very painful.
He then needs to reapply the ...

Homecoming – The Climb #554
Craig came home today. He’s a mess and has to go back on Monday. His arm is bandaged up for the duration but his face needs cleaning and a paraffin ointment applied every couple of hours.
I spent most of the day getting ready. I slept better but still feel tired. Then it was up seeing to pets. I also washed all the bedding so he could return to a nice clean bed.
I had planned for this to be a boring weekend looking after animals as he wasn’t due to come home until ...
