After twenty years of wandering desolate as a writer, Ferrett Steinmetz attended the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Workshop in 2008 and was rejuvenated. Since then, he's sold stories to Asimov's Science Fiction (twice!), Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Shimmer, and Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, among others, and otherwise has a marvelous collection of very personalized rejection letters. He lives in Cleveland with his wife, a well-worn copy of Rock Band ("Painkiller," Expert, four stars), and a friendly ghost. Should you want more of Ferrett Steinmetz, he blogs about puns, politics, and polyamory at The Watchtower of Destruction (http://theferrett.livejournal.com).

More books by Ferrett Steinmetz…

As a long-time Star Wars fan, I loved The Last Jedi, but I loved it as I would a well-written fanfic.  There's one big problem at the heart of it:

That's not the Luke Skywalker I grew up with.

The Luke Skywalker I grew up idolizing was a hero, whose empathy and strength at the end of Return of the Jedi signalled the start of a long career where he went on to do many awesome things afterwards.

More of Ferrett's books…
“Society took all the traits that a kid needed to be a successful adult – independence, a questioning spirit, a ferocious drive to satisfy your own needs – and then quashed them relentlessly, so thoroughly suppressing those urges that some adults never figured out how to be happy again.”
Ferrett Steinmetz, The Flux

“Oh, God,” he muttered. “This is such a mistake.” “That’s how you always say yes!” Valentine squealed, and tackle-hugged him.”
Ferrett Steinmetz, The Flux

“He'd thwarted a killer, saved the park, saved thousands from being chewed to pieces, and did it all through other people's strength. Maybe Aliyah would die, maybe he would never have existed, but...

...it was worth it.”
Ferrett Steinmetz, Flex
