Romantic Times Calls THE MOCKINGBIRDS a "Masterpiece!"

Masterpiece is one of those words I never thought and never expected I'd hear associated with anything related to me. BUT, Romantic Times called my book a "masterpiece!!!"

Ack!! I'm floored and honored and humbled and thrilled!!

Here's the official review: "Every high school girl should read this book. Topics like date rape can be hard to discuss. Whitney has written an artful and engaging masterpiece full of pain, redemption and, most importantly, justice."

Not too shabby, eh?

Plus, Romantic Times called it a "Top Pick!"

Romantic Times – you are a masterpiece!

XOXO

Online Video Ad Standards

One of the biggest challenges in the online video ad business to date has been a lack of standards for ad formats. That may change though because a far-reaching industry coalition called Rising Tide Coop is rolling out one of the first industry-wide ad formats this month. The ad format is ASQ and it could usher in a lot more dollars and brands into online video. Companies such as Publicis, Panache and Visible Measures are behind the effort.

Why are you so crazy about young adult books?

Sure, we've all – it seems – read Twilight. But beyond that phenomenon, why are adults crazy about YA lit? My friend Capillya Uptergrove of "That Cover Girl" was discussing that topic online last week so I asked her to write a blog post on it. Here's what she had to say…

By Capillya Uptergrove

I really do love this question. Most of the time, I'm not even asked this question, because I just get regarded with a quizzical look of disbelief. How on earth does a 27-year-old woman who has a crazy...

The Future of Media – Yep, All of It!

Media is changing so we might as well get good at it. That's what David Pescovitz, founder of Boing Boing and a thought leader at the Institute for the Future says. I had a chance to nab an interview with this visionary mind and asked him what we should be afraid of and what we should be embracing when it comes to the future of media. Here's his answer in this week's New Media Minute.Tags: daisy whitney, new media minute, natpe, digitalsmiths, david pescovitz, boing boing, institute for the...

Webinar on Getting your Teen or Tween Lit Published

I have a feeling some of the people who read this blog are writers. And some might – just might – be a bit eager to be published. Am I right?

Well, if my hunch is on target, then I encourage ALL the aspiring authors who read this blog to check out agent Mary Kole's upcoming webinar on publishing for the teen and tween market. Mary is nothing short of awesome! Seriously. She is an agent for Andrea Brown Literary (which reps a TON of big name young adult authors) and she's been selling books...

So you wanna make a movie?

I love to find ways to marry new media and novels, and I found the perfect opportunity in this blog post!

My friends at the Web show DadLabs have also written a fantastic book "Filmmaking for Teens" full of tons of useful tips, instruction and techniques on how to make a five-minute short. So if you're a teen or you've got a teen in your family who's an aspiring filmmaker, Web producer or digital content maker, I HIGHLY recommend this book. In fact, I'd love to give away a copy of it! All you ...
