Back From Vacation

Hi everone. We just returned from an eight-day Disney-Pixar Cruise. This was basically a wireless vacation for us. No cell phones and about five minutes total internet access. It was our first real vacation in about three years and we had a great time!

The itinerary was the port of L.A., San Fransisco, San Diego, Ensanada, then back home Sunday mornning. Here are a few pics of the fam:

Genre Favorites Blogfest

Here we go with another fun Blogfest, this time sponsored by Alex Cavanaugh. One blogfest, four favorites! Here are mine: MovieI'll go for spoofs and the completely stupid here. I think Mel Brooks is a genius. Monty Pythonhad some real classics. Teen movie spoofs always make me laugh. [image error]  MusicI prefer rock but can listen to just about anything except for hokey pokey country and the self-promoting rappers  with a fourth grade education trying to convince the world how great they a...

The Seven C's of Writing a Great Mystery

[image error] Hi everyone, it's great to be back. This new job has me moving, and I'm short on time. So I'm posting a rerun from a blog I posted last year. This blog shares a few items from You Can Write A Mystery by Gillian Roberts and provides a framework to help authors outline their stories and develop their characters.

According to Gillian, every novel needs suspense and drama. Every good writer plays fair with his reader and creates a believable world the reader can enter. The novel must con...

What's Your Chocolate? Blogfest

[image error] Hi everyone. I'm back from my blogging vacation. It's been great to take some much needed time off and work on my next book Escalation, get caught up on things around the house, and just plain relax. I've missed you all.
What better way to return than today's What's Your Favorite Chocolate? Blogfest, hosted by the lovely ladies Mary Pax, Brinda Berry, Ciara Knight. And who doesn't like an awesome chocolate desert? Or a simple pocket-sized bag of M&Ms? I know I do. I love all cho...

Guest Blog at the Blogging A to Z Challenge

[image error]Yeah, that's me on vacation, trying to get away from it all.Hi everyone, I'm still on vacation (well deserved as its been a busy year). But I take my twice-a-month-post at the A to Z Challenge blog seriously, although I missed both last month as I was on vacation.
So please take a moment to stop by and say hello. I'm discussing a very serious topic that we will have to confront during our lifetime, whether you like it or not: asteroid mining. And this may very well involve pulling Texas-sized...

Tonight There's Going To Be A Jail Break

[image error] Hi everyone, yes, I'm still on blogging vacation. I'm making awesome progress on Escalation! This book is really going to rock!
But alas, I'm at that Jail Break Chapter and really need some help. Your help. We did this once before two years ago for my book Opening.  My protagonist, Chase Manhattan, had to break Professor Nicholas Fischer out of Suffolk County Jail in Boston to help prevent a large section of Geneva from going up in a nuclear fireball. Fischer was the M.I.T. physicist...

Getting Ready For Vacation

[image error] Hi everyone, hope you all had a safe and awesome weekend! I don't have much to post about as I head into my two-week vacation (technically, my vacation starts today as I'm cheating). I'll finish up the draft for ESCALATION, but I'm sure I'll be checking comments and visiting you all regardless.
I'll post once more on Wednesday as I have a few items I want to cover. Namely, I want your help with a Jail Break Scene I'm working on. But we'll leave that for Wednesday.
So until then, enjoy your week...
