Which just leaves Hartcher, Savva and the ABC… UPDATE: Scratch Hartcher

I do believe that Malcolm Turnbull is losing what he’d consider his base.

For instance, here is Laurie Oakes:

Turnbull’s anxious troops ... must wonder if [the banks making annual appearances before the House of Representatives economics committee] will prove a deft political move or another exploding cigar.

A royal commission into the Northern Territory’s youth detention system seemed a good idea after the Four Corners expose, but the rushed choice of...

The ayes have it

I haven’t heard the like since Malcolm Turnbull was last the leader of the Opposition. . My book launch in Brisbane last night, I said Turnbull should not be prime minister. Almost every person in the 350-strong crowd of conservatives and liberals cheered.

Paul Kelly switches poisons

May, 2015

Shut up the poisonous opponents of identity politics, says Paul Kelly:

The danger is that Australia faces a debacle in the campaign to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the Constitution.... Bolt has prejudged the issue, saying earlier this month the effect of the referendum is “to divide Australians by our ‘race’… It is hard to judge whether the political poison Bolt injects into this debate will gain traction....  This raises...

The ABC’s pet victim

What the ABC never told you about the young man in the restraint chair:

Prison officers at an adult jail in the Northern Territory have been told they will be smeared in the media by the young man at the centre of the Turnbull government’s new royal commission into his treatment behind bars.

Department of Correctional Services internal reports obtained by The Weekend Australian depict Dylan Voller, 19 next month, as a violent and manipulative inmate...

Book invades Red Parliament. UPDATE: Brisbane signing

My book is living better than I am, visiting Ho Chi Minh City, Santorini, London, Lake Como, Ithaca, Scotland, the Bay of Naples, Dubrovnik, Fiji, Aileron and the Andes. In between, it’s done some work in Kalgoorlie and the coal seam gas fields of Condabri, Queensland, before attending a christening in Newcastlle.

But now Peter M finds Worth Fighting For lurking in the most unexpected place - the library of the most radically Left Parliament in...

Not fit to to be Prime Minister

Maurice Newman, former head of the stock exchange, says Malcolm Turnbull has proved he is unfit to be Prime Minister:

Turnbull’s experience in business appears not to have prepared him for the sheer scale and complexity of politics, particularly government. He seems to be erratic, egocentric and divisive. His supersized ministry suggests people-management issues. His vacillation over Kevin Rudd’s UN candidacy is symptomatic of a chairman not in command of his...

Rudd’s revenge: how Turnbull double-crossed him

Malcolm Turnbull is accused of double dealing and backflips by Kevin Rudd, who is out for vengeance:

Kevin Rudd has revealed key details of four meetings with Malcolm Turnbull last year when he was encouraged in his global campaign to become UN secretary-general and accuses the Prime Minister of a breach of good faith and trust.

Mr Rudd reveals in an exclusive interview that after the Prime Minister told him in early May this year that the government...

Enemies of free speech: dumb, vicious and allergic to the truth

Bill Leak’s critics are not just enemies of free speech and allergic to the truth. They also miss the crucial fact that there are actually three Aborigines in Bill Leak’s cartoon:

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council said the cartoon was racist and has filed a complaint with the Australian Press Council.

“It was absolutely disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful. I can’t believe The Australian, a national newspaper, would be so insulting to us as Aboriginal...
