Scott D. Southard fell in love with books when he discovered Middle Earth and Narnia as a child. That beginning grew into a passion for classic literature and any story that he can get truly lost in. He is the author of seven books, including A Jane Austen Daydream and Permanent Spring Showers. For many years, he was heard on National Public Radio as a regular contributor to WKAR's Current State where he would discuss new and classic novels and literary events. He can be found online at "The Musings & Artful Blunders of Scott D. Southard" at sdsouthard.com. ...more

I laugh when I get the idea, I laugh when I put it down on paper, and I laugh each time I read it (sometimes for each draft). It's really pitiful. My big difficulty has always been not telling everyone around me about it. I have to keep it contained, in the story. I'm sure it makes me look a little crazy.

Recently, A Jane Austen Daydream was released an audiobook. Louisa Gummer (the narrator) gave an amazing performance and has a background as a comedian. She has improved many of my jokes in her delivery. (Completely capturing the wit of my Jane.) I laughed a lot the first time I listened.

I think for most characters there would be an overall feeling of confusion and bewilderment.

The only two characters that might work nicely together are Megan from MEGAN and Jacob from MY PROBLEM WITH DOORS. I think they could become friends. Well, at least they are in my head.

Cheers and thanks for the question!(less)
