Tucker Elliot is a former teacher for the United States Department of Defense in Korea and Germany. He has visited schools on four continents and more than twenty countries as a volunteer or an invited speaker/lecturer.

Tucker was a teacher on a military base in Korea on 9/11. His memoir titled The Day Before 9/11 was released in March 2013. The Day Before 9/11 is a harrowing true story that spans America's first decade in the war on terror, and portrays in riveting detail the sacrifices made by military families serving overseas and the enduring pain that accompanies the tragic loss of life.

Tucker's second memoir will be released Fall 2015 and is titled The Rainy Season. An e-book titled 11 Bombs will also be released in October 2015. 11 B

Two books will be out soon that will bring closure and answers to both of these -- THE MEMORY OF HOPE (set in Japan) is complete and past it's release date because of contractual issues that have recently been resolved, so it'll be out shortly. THE RAINY SEASON is complete in draft form and I'm in the process of doing a rewrite with a targeted late August / early September release. Thanks for your patience and as always I appreciate everyone's support. I received hundreds of positive emails about THE DAY BEFORE 9/11 and though I wasn't able to reply to everyone I would like to say how much I appreciated the outpouring of support.(less)

Some favorite quotes by Roger Maris

“As a ballplayer, I would be delighted to do it again. As an individual, I doubt if I could possibly go through it again.”

“Every day I went to the ballpark in Yankee Stadium as well as on the road people were on my back. The last six years in the American League were mental hell for me. I was drained of all my desire to play baseball.”

“I don’t want to be Babe Ruth. He was a great ballplayer....

Tucker Elliot shared a quote
The Forbidden Door by Dean Koontz
“Life is finding people you love and then losing them, sometimes after sixty years, sometimes after a few months or even a week, all the loss meant to keep you humble and remind you that your life is likewise stamped with an expiration date, so that you’ll use your days to the best of your ability, in the service of what is good.”

More of Tucker's books…
“In large part, we are teachers precisely because we remember what it was like to be a student. Someone inspired us. Someone influenced us. Or someone hurt us. And we’ve channeled that joy (or pain) into our own unique philosophies on life and learning and we’re always looking for an opportunity to share them—with each other, our students, parents, or in our communities.”
Tucker Elliot

“The only thing worse than losing hope is to be the reason someone else loses hope.”
Tucker Elliot, The Rainy Season

“My dad once told me that his biggest challenge after returning from Vietnam had been coming to terms with his own callousness. He’d made a deal with the war and traded his humanity for a ticket home.”
Tucker Elliot, The Rainy Season

“Even in the darkest moments, light exists if you have faith to see it. ”
Dean Koontz

“There are no explanations for human evil. Only excuses.”
Dean Koontz, Intensity

“Evil itself may be relentless. I will grant you that, but love is relentless too. Friendship is a relentless force. Family is a relentless force. Faith is relentless force. The human spirit is relentless, and the human heart outlasts - and can defeat - even the most relentless force of all, which is time.”
Dean Koontz, Relentless

“...the most common cause of death among alpha males was ego.”
Nelson DeMille, The Lion

“Get busy living or get busy dying.”
Stephen King, Different Seasons
