«La strada per tornare a casa è lunga e piena di semafori. A volte quelli che gli si affiancano gli lanciano un’occhiata e, quando lui sorride, spesso distolgono lo sguardo. Ma a Martin piace pensare che portino con sé il suo sorriso per un paio di isolati, che anche il gesto più piccolo sia qualcosa di grande.
Se n’è reso conto quasi subito, così come si è anche reso conto che le persone credono di vivere la propria vita, ma in realtà si tratta di semplici circostanze. La verità è più vicina di quello che pensiamo e in ciò che già conosciamo sono sepolte le bugie.»
