I write as C.J., but you can call me Cynthia. My YA novel DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS came out in early 2010. My next book TRANSCENDENCE came out in June of 2012, followed by the sequel INTUITION in June of 2013. My newest book is a YA thriller called THE THIRD TWIN and will be out in February 2015 followed by another standalone thriller RECOVERY in early 2016.

You might notice that I only give 4 or 5 star reviews. That isn't because I love everything, it's because I only review things I really love. As a writer, I know all that goes into making a book, and while a story might not strike a chord with me, who am I to say it won't with someone else? I hate tomatoes, but lots of people like them, and it's the same with a book. So, if I rate something

So...I've been gone. For a long time. A lot has happened in the past six months - my son is applying to college, our dog finally grew all of his hair back and I got diagnosed with cancer. Mostly it's the cancer that's been keeping me away.

I don't want to bore you with the details, but out of nowhere and with no family history I was diagnosed in June with stage IV colon cancer that has metastasi... Read more of this blog post »

“I closed the cover and stared at it. How dare she have dreams while making all of us live like this? She was the parent—she could have done something about it. She was the one with the power to make our lives like the people in the notebook, but instead she buried us all under tons of filth and shame.”
C.J. Omololu, Dirty Little Secrets

“I reached out and curled my hand around her still, icy fingers. I held it there for a long time as I sat with my knees to my chest, wishing that just for a minute she could squeeze it back and tell me everything would be okay.”
C.J. Omololu, Dirty Little Secrets

“If it was her diary, it would be wrong to open it. More wrong than leaving her dead in the hallway for the better part of a day? I shrugged my shoulders as I opened the black cardboard cover. It was all relative. It wasn’t a diary—not really. Carefully pasted onto the pages of notebook paper were magazine pictures of different houses. There was a picture of a wide, green lawn with a house perched way off in the distance and a family having a picnic on a postage-stamp-sized blanket. There were dining rooms with long tables where people could linger after a meal and talk about politics or sports. A bedroom with a white canopy bed big enough for a mom and kids to curl up on a Sunday morning and read the newspaper. Every now and then on the page would be something written very carefully in her sprawling handwriting.”

Candy I wanted to tell you that 'Dirty Little Secrets' is probably the book I have spent the most time thinking about since reading. It is crazy on so many levels but on the most obvious of these, I have thrown out and donated more since reading this book than I ever did in my dozens of years beforehand. Thank you for such a well written, thought provoking, and important book.

Lucy As soon as I posted your book to my "to-read" list, one of my friends was immediately pestering me to loan it to her as soon as I finished! Your book is one hot commodity. Can't wait to sink my teeth into it!
