Jefferson’s Quran

The lies that have been dispersed by the White House have been widely publicized. Although they have been ever-present with Mr. Obama since he first appeared in the national presidential campaign in 2008, they have increased in both frequency and intensity as we near

the launch date of Obama Care on October 1st. Even the liberal mouthpiece, the Washington Post, published a tongue-lashing aimed at the President’s comments and lies about the debt ceiling when talking to the Business Roundtable in Washington on Wednesday where he said:

“You have never seen in the history of the United States the debt ceiling or the threat of not raising the debt ceiling being used to extort a President or a governing party, and trying to force issues that have nothing to do with the budget and have nothing to do with the debt.”

The Post pointed out numerous occasions in the recent past where the exact same thing has happened to other Presidents and disputed the President’s remarks openly.

In my research for my upcoming novel, Deadly Borders, I came across a little known incident that didn’t seem to make a lasting impression in the media. I talked with many friends who had never heard the story so I thought it would be worthwhile to note even though it is somewhat dated and took place in August of last year.

The President was hosting a dinner to commemorate the Islamic month of Ramadan in the White House – in addition to members of the Muslim community; guests included elected officials and those of other religious faiths. The dinner itself was not unusual and he is not the first President to host this event. What was unique were the President’s remarks about the Quran. If you wish to read his comments in their entirety here is a link to that speech that is posted on the White House’ website. The particular paragraph that caught my attention is the following:

“And some of you, as you arrived tonight, may have seen our special display, courtesy of our friends at the Library of Congress — the Quran that belonged to Thomas Jefferson. And that’s a reminder, along with the generations of patriotic Muslims in America, that Islam — like so many faiths — is part of our national story.”

Here’s the real reason why Jefferson had a copy of the Quran and was reading and learning about Islam. In reality he was ascribing to the ancient principle of “know your enemy”. Jefferson was preparing to launch an attack on the Muslim pirates who were running rampant along the Barbary Coast of Africa. These pirates led attacks on American merchant ships in an attempt to extort ransom for the lives of captured sailors, and ultimately black mail the United States to avoid further attacks. He wanted to understand whom he was fighting and what they stood for – he wasn’t interested in being accommodating to American Muslims as Mr. Obama seemed to indicate in his remarks. Perhaps not an outright lie but he certainly twisted the real reason behind Jefferson’s Islamic holy book. I’m not sure “did you notice Thomas Jefferson’s Quran that he used to strategize the first American attack against Muslims?” would have played well with his guests – just saying! Our third president was preparing to lead our military onto “the shores of Tripoli” – words that are a central theme in the Marine Corps’ Hymn. I feel a bit like the late Paul Harvey – now you know the rest of the story!

The war that Jefferson began against the Somali Muslims did not end there but the battle rages as the pirates still wreck havoc in North Africa. Million Muslim March – NOT!

In my blog of August 16th I talked about the American Muslim Political Action Committee’s plan to mount a “Million Muslim March” on Washington, DC to protest the treatment that Muslims get in the United States – here’s the follow-up report.

The Muslim’s choice of 9/11 to convene in Washington, DC was both offensive and distasteful but it spoke volumes of their view of their terrorist attack. Nearly all Americans were offended but one group set out to make their own remembrance. A group of patriotic bikers formed their own “march” on DC targeted a goal of 2 million bikers to honor the Americans who died on the fateful day. The organization went viral on Facebook and other social media outlets.

Neither the Muslims nor the bikers hit their goal but the bikers came much, much closer than the Muslims. Mark Segraves of the NBC affiliate in Washington reported that only “about 25 people,” were at the Muslim march as at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a group of Christians about the same size protesting nearby. At approximately 1 p.m., “2 Million Bikers to DC” Facebook page co-founder Belinda Bee posted that police have counted nearly 1 million bikers are on the streets of Washington. Actual estimates are all over the map but they obviously were far more successful than the AMPAC.

In the typical style of Mr. Obama’s Washington, the National Park Service denied the biker’s request for a permit, saying that such a large gathering of motorcycles would cause “a severe disruption of traffic” and more police than D.C. could provide. However, according to D.C. law, “it shall not be an offense to assemble or parade on a District street, sidewalk, or other public way, or in a District park, without having provided notice or obtained an approved assembly plan.”  So without a permit the bikers roared into the nation’s capital legally riding by our national monuments — without the permit. Our Muslim protesters were granted a permit under the new and misleading name of Million Americans Against Fear – the demonstration formerly know as the Million (or more truthfully 25) Muslim March.

The Growth of Islam

I picked up a great little book called The Ambassador’s Guide to Islam by Alan Shlemon that provides a concise (the book is only 64 pages) narrative on the Muslim religion and how best to approach our Muslim brothers in dialogue. He states that “an estimated 70% of Muslim’s are nominal” – that means that most Muslims you encounter will only know what they have been told by the holy leaders what is in the Quran or the Hadiths. They know even less obviously about the Bible. We can use the words of the Quran to reach our Muslim friends.

It’s a fact that the Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion in the world – part of that is math. Alan points out in part one of his book the alarming total fertility rate (TFR) – in simple terms TFR represents the number of children born to a couple. In other words a TFR of 2.0 would represent a couple having two children. As the European countries have TFRs generally less than 2.0 (Italy is 1.31) – Muslims in Africa and the Middle East have TFRs in excess of 6.0. Do the math and you’ll see how the Muslim religion will be spreading simply by the number of children born to Muslim parents.

The Pew Research Forum published numbers is 2011 that estimated the Muslim population to increase by 35% in the next 20 years. The average annual growth rate of 1.5% for Muslims compared to .7% for non-Muslims.

In Europe (usually a precursor to North America) Muslims are moving in and literally taking over sections of European cities. The purposefully do not assimilate into the communities they move into – they keep their customs, their native languages and seldom marry outside of their faith.

In my town of Nashville we are experiencing an influx of refugees from the Muslim countries in the Middle East and Africa. Many are from Kurdistan and Somalia. My pastor talked one Sunday about the uneasiness surrounding the building of a mosque in middle Tennessee. His take was interesting – it is illegal for us to go into Muslim countries and talk about Jesus so God is bringing them to us.

We need to be prepared for those conversations and build relationships that will give us the ability to talk with them about our Jesus and not the Prophet Jesus of their Quran but our Jesus of the Bible.

America’s Next Great Enemy

When I was in college in Pennsylvania I pledged Sigma Pi fraternity and became a part of a brotherhood basically dedicated to having fun and enjoying college. We had secret meetings, brotherhood secrets and even secret hand shakes. The only similarity between the Muslim Brotherhood and my college fraternity was the word ‘brotherhood’. While we were busy planning our next event, the Muslim Brotherhood is planning to convert the whole world to Islam in a very methodical, calculated way.

Oh what a confusing world we live in. Ever since the military “coup d’état” in Egypt I have been digging into the Muslim Brotherhood and it’s impact on the world of terrorism. My investigation has been accelerated by the research of Erick Stakelbeck. I first discovered Erick while doing the research for my novel, Deadly Beliefs. His book The Terrorist Next Door refuted the President’s claim that al-Qaeda is a non-entity and that his system worked in thwarting the planned al-Qaeda attacks. Erick’s contention in that book was that al-Qaeda is alive and well in our neighborhoods and communities. Let it be known that I didn’t lift the idea of my book from Erick but he certainly affirmed that I was on the right track.

I’m in the process of writing the sequel to Deadly Beliefs and the location is shifting to Mexico. As Deadly Borders is taking shape, my story portrays the Muslim Brotherhood playing an integral part in the terrorist activity south of our border. Erick’s latest book, Brotherhood – America’s Next Great Enemy, has once again managed to deliver a fact-filled, well-documented (there are thirty-six pages of footnotes) expose on the deadliest terrorist organization in the world.

The Islamic scholar and schoolteacher Hassan al-Banna founded the Brotherhood in Egypt in 1928 as a religious, political, and social movement. From that point forward they have attempted to be the “voice” of the Islamic Movement and play the role of a legitimate spokesperson for the group. Over the years they have spawned both al-Qaeda and Hamas. Their plan for world domination varies from these two groups in that they wish to move into territories and gradually take control of the government from within. In the process they impose Sharia Law and become the ruling class. Their plan is playing out throughout Europe – see my blog from July 15th – Sharia Law in London.

What would you say if I told you that a known Muslim Brotherhood organization has been invited to the White House staff up to and act as consultants to President Obama? Shocking?

Before the President went on his Israel trip earlier this year he consulted with Mohamed Magid whose organization, The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). ISNA has been identified as an ally of the Muslim Brotherhood in a document that was seized by the FBI. Magid has also been used to review government documents to make sure they were not offensive to Muslims. All this from an organization with known ties to the The MB published a plan in December 1982 entitled ‘The Project’ (you can download the plan here)Download that outlines a 12-point plan to “establish an Islamic government across all lands.” Their plan does not exclude violence if necessary their plan is to infiltrate the government, the culture offering propaganda and misinformation as they slowly take over. They plan to use our laws and constitution to take over the country. A radical thought but we need to wake up. Our overly sensitive political correctness plays right into their plan. We need to wake up before it’s too late.

Million Muslim March

News broke yesterday of plans by the American Muslim Political Action Committee to hold a “Million Muslim March” on Washington, D.C. on the anniversary of 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks or the Manhattan Raid as radical Muslims refer to it. What do they hope to accomplish by asking one million Muslims to march on Washington on the 12th anniversary of that tragic day? A day that has forever changed each of us. The answer aligns with the reason they fought to put a mosque close to ground zero in lower Manhattan. It’s an “in your face” gesture – a “monument” to their biggest victory in their war against the United States. It’s also a move to get national attention for M.D. Rabbi Alam’s fringe group AMPAC and it has apparently worked – Americans are outraged.

Fox news broke from their coverage of the violence in Egypt to cover the story. I heard about it a while ago but didn’t want to give any credence to their news-making attempt. Alam has been outspoken in his speculation of Jewish involvement in the 9/11 attacks claiming that, since 9/11 was a Jewish holiday, very few Jewish people were killed in the disaster and it was aimed at having the American public join them in their hatred of Muslims. A Jewish conspiracy and not a radical Islamic attack. The State Department has debunked his claim and, in fact there were between 200 and 400 Jews that died that day.

So what crazy scheme can Alam cook up next? “I know, let’s have a meeting of one million Muslims praying on the Capitol grounds to point out how Muslims are wrongly singled out as terrorists” he thinks. And if that idea isn’t bad enough we’re going to have it on 9/11. If he were truly looking to cast new light on American Muslims he should be standing up condemning the radical Muslims?

By the way, the name of the march has been officially changed from the “Million Muslim March” to the “Million American March Against Fear”. According to Alam, their official angle is to have Americans rally in protest “FBI traps,” “illegal tapping and surveilling of Muslim Americans” and “media propaganda making the word terrorist synonymous with Muslim.”

Again, Mr. Alam where is your outrage against the radical jihadists?

Fox vs MSN – Zealot

When I went to research something online Tuesday my eye caught a feature about Reza Aslan, the author of the bestseller, ‘Zealot’, being interviewed by a Fox reporter. The headline painted Fox’s Lauren Green as taking an unfair line of questioning that attempted to put the author on the spot about the fact that he was Muslim writing a book about the founder of Christianity. I fell into MSN’s way of thinking when I first watched the interview  and actually believed their headline that Fox conducted an “embarrassing” interview. I felt sorry for Aslan as he was very intelligently defending why he wrote his historical account of Jesus Christ. That is; however, prior to reading more about the book, the author and his educational background.

Aslan’s family fled the Iranian revolution from Tehran in 1979. He grew up in the San Francisco area and converted to evangelical Christianity when he was 15 and converted back to Islam prior to attending Harvard in the 1990’s. Aslan got very defensive as Ms Green continued to question why he wrote the book as he made claims to an impressive educational background including a PhD in history of religions along with referencing “over 1,000” books in his research. The first claim is blatantly wrong and the second is questionable. He has earned four degrees: a 1995 B.A. in religion from Santa Clara University and wrote his senior thesis on “The Messianic Secret in the Gospel of Mark”; a 1999 Master of Theological Studies from Harvard; a 2002 Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from the University of Iowa; and a 2009 Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Impressive credentials but history is nowhere to be found nor is he a “professor of religions” as claimed.

Here is his quote from the Fox interview:

I am a scholar of religions with four degrees including one in the New Testament . . . I am an expert with a Ph.D. in the history of religions . . . I am a professor of religions, including the New Testament–that’s what I do for a living, actually . . . To be clear, I want to emphasize one more time, I am a historian, I am a Ph.D. in the history of religions.

In regards to his extensive research, I find it interesting that he claims to have used “over 1,000” books in his research but he completely discounts the accounts of the Gospel writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) who were eyewitnesses to Jesus’ life and teachings. Criticism of the book is pouring from Christian theologians and professors – here’s an example:

John S. Dickerson, a pastor at Cornerstone Church in Arizona “His book is not a historian’s report on Jesus. It is an educated Muslim’s opinion about Jesus — yet the book is being peddled as objective history on national TV and radio.”

As noted above, his PhD was in sociology not in history. Reza Aslan is more of a progressive radical than he is a historian. To form your own opinion you can scan his 140-page dissertation titled “Global Jihadism as a Transnational Social Movement: A Theoretical Framework.” Don’t download it as that will add to his notoriety – you can check out a few pages and know immediately where his head is.

Let me leave you with this thought. According to President Obama and Hilary Clinton an inflammatory YouTube video questioning Muhammad sparked the demonstrations on 9/11 in Benghazi that led to the death of innocent Americans. They both expressed outrage to this incident. It came to light that the whole incident was dreamed up to cover up the Secretary of State’s ineptitude that left the embassy unprotected and insecure. The attack was a terrorist attack on the anniversary of their biggest success against us, their most hated enemy. Set that aside for a moment. Here we have a book that diminishes the role that Christ played in founding Christianity, painting Him as radical that was put to death violating the law of His day and that he had nothing to do with saving humanity from our sins. His book is very offensive to Christ followers – will Obama or Clinton speak-up against the book? Of course not, they are feeling sorry for Mr. Aslan for being questioned about his motives for writing. He has every right to write the book – we live in a free country. I firmly believe that his motive is to put shadows of doubt in the minds of Christians – don’t be fooled. Don’t accept everything you read or see in the mainstream media as factual and/or accurate. Investigate for yourselves.

On the Cover of the Rolling Stone

I spent the first three quarters of my working life in the music business. An artist attaining the coveted cover spot of the Rolling Stone magazine was a career maker and a sign that they have “arrived”. After this week’s decision by the editors to place Dzhokhar Tsarnev, the brother and suspect accomplice of the alleged Boston Marathon bomber I’m not so sure what it means.

The picture actually presents him as a baby-faced heartthrob rather than a suspected terrorist. The article paints him as “a popular, promising student (who) was failed by his family, fell into radical Islam, and became a monster.” He was influenced by his radical brother but come on – he was in control of his decisions and he decided to place bombs designed to kill hundreds along the race route. They successfully killed three and injured two-hundred and sixty-four others. Outrage about this decision is being expressed nationwide. I think Boston Mayor Tom Menino summed it up appropriately in his letter to Jann Wenner, editor of Rolling Stone where he said, among other things: “The survivors of the Boston attacks deserve Rolling Stone cover stories, though I no longer feel that Rolling Stone deserves them”.

What in the world is going through the editor’s minds? Here’s one theory – a week ago nobody was talking about Rolling Stone today everyone is. Is this a perverted way to catapult the music celebrity magazine back into the limelight?

The magazine is scheduled to hit store shelves in early August but many stores are banning it. The bulk of their sales, however, come through the 1.34 million subscriptions. It would not hurt them too much if they didn’t sell all 75,000 copies that are sold at retail. The real risk to them is if this backfires and subscribers cancel – I only hope that decent, freedom loving Americans will be repulsed by placing this radical Muslim on the cover of a magazine that was once an icon of music celebrity.

Sharia Law in London

As a follow-up to my blog on churches in Europe being converted to mosques at an alarming rate (average of two per week), I wanted to dig into Sharia Law and specifically how certain parts of London are being controlled by Sharia. But let’s start with the basics – what exactly is Sharia Law? Sharia law is the law of Islam. Sharia has its roots in the Quran, the actions and words of Muhammad, and the collective reasoning and deductions of Muslim imams over the years. Most of us have heard the term and most of us have heard that there are sections of London controlled by Sharia but I, for one, had no deep understanding of exactly what that means and how it was happening.

To give you an idea of the severity and radical nature of Sharia I wanted to give you a few examples. There are many aspects of Sharia that are just too grotesque for me to even include but I think you’ll get a general idea from the following abbreviated list:

Theft is punishable by amputation of the right hand.

Criticizing or denying any part of the Quran is punishable by death.

Criticizing or denying Muhammad is a prophet is punishable by death.

Criticizing or denying Allah, the moon god of Islam is punishable by death.

A Muslim who becomes a non-Muslim is punishable by death.

A non-Muslim who leads a Muslim away from Islam is punishable by death.

A non-Muslim man who marries a Muslim woman is punishable by death.

A woman can have one husband, but a man can have up to four wives.

A man can unilaterally divorce his wife but a woman needs her husband’s consent to divorce.

A man can beat his wife for insubordination.

Testimonies of four male witnesses are required to prove rape against a woman.

A woman who has been raped cannot testify in court against her rapist(s).

The list could continue and there are many items that would discuss sensible people regardless of their personal religious convictions but I think the above illustrates the severity of Islamic laws. Sharia is the law of Saudi Arabia and, as the topic of this blog indicates, it is creeping into Europe, UK, Canada and even parts of America as Islam expands. Obviously we are not at a place where these sections of London are controlled by al aspects of the radical Sharia Law but it as started.

Since I started digging into Islamic research for the writing of Deadly Beliefs I have heard about parts of various cities being held captive to Sharia Law. I have found it to be interesting party discussion but does it really exist and if so how? How in the world are freedom loving people being forced into Sharia Law? There is video evidence of gangs in London who call themselves Muslim London Patrol abusing people for drinking alcohol or improper attire. There are videos that show females being accosted by these gangs and told to leave the area since they are not dressed in traditional Arab garb. When she told them she was appalled and said: “This is Great Britain.” To that her accosters reply: “This is not-so-Great Britain, this is a Muslim area. We are vigilantes implementing Islam upon your own necks.” It should be pointed out that these gangs represent a very small portion of the Muslim population in London and most Muslims condemn the vigilantes.

I see, in perhaps a distorted view, similarities between the Muslim street gangs and New York City founded Guardian Angels that were formed to protect people from violence in the NYC subway system. The difference is that the Guardian Angels were defending people from crime against the law of the land and not the law of Muhammad.

Churches to Mosques

You have probably heard it said that if you wish to see what the United States will look like in ten years take a look at Europe and I’m not talking about their move deeper and deeper into socialism – I’m talking about the Muslim religion growing at a rate that it will eventually be the nominate religion in Europe.

Their stated goal is to become the dominate religion in the world.

A sign of their success is that European churches are being sold and converted to mosques to accommodate their growing numbers. These conversions have been taking place at a rate two per week. The 2011 census in England and Wales indicated that 33.2 million citizens identify themselves as Christians but the facts show churches needing to close at an alarming rate. As an illustration look at these two pictures. The one on the left is Friday noon prayers (a required prayer time for Muslims weekly) vs the picture on the right. Both were taken in London – blocks away from each other. It is estimated that in twenty years there will be more active Muslims than Christian churchgoers.

The same thing is happening in Germany where Muslims have plans to convert four Lutheran churches in Hamburg to mosques. Roman Catholic churches are also suffering with low attendance and in Duisburg, Germany they recently announced plans to close four churches. Muslims have their sight set on the historic Church of Saint Peter and Paul which remains the last Catholic church in the Marcloh part of Duisburg. After an outcry from local Catholics, they decided to keep the church open and not sell. Roman Catholic and Protestant churches have been closing in Germany at an alarming rate while more than 200 mosques have been built with another 128 under construction.

Mosques are being built all over the United States in major cities and college towns.  A large majority of mosques in the United States are led by Wahhabi clerics. Wahhabism is an extreme brand of Islam practiced dominantly in Saudi Arabia. According to Muslim estimates, up to 80 percent of mosques in the U.S. are owned, operated and led by Wahhabis. Osama bin Laden, the founder of al-Qaeda joined the Wahhabi sect of Islam. It is questionable whether he stayed in that sect all his life. Karen Armstrong says that OBL, like most extremists follow Sayyid Qutb.
