I'm in Trouble

TPW_0723How cute are these?

TPW_0724I can say that because, well…I didn't make them. They were given to me at a recent book signing, and I love everything about them. I love them so much, I carefully packed them in my carry-on bag. They're so kitschy!

TPW_0725The cookies were made by printing an image on a sort of edible "sugar paper" (there is a more technical term), using edible ink cartridges—which, evidently, can be used on many standard printer models.

Scanpan!

scanpan2I'm in love.

First: Raise your hand if you have a nonstick skillet that's peeling and scratchy and embarrassing.

*Raises hand*

Scanpan is a new discovery for me. Made in Denmark, the nonstick pans are magical and indestructible. Eggs slide. Vegetables glide. And it's heavy enough that it can sear like no one's business, and it will make you a happier, more well rounded individual. Who could argue with that!

Here's the description from CHEFS Catalog:

"On the forefront of cookware technology...

The Bar

As I travel home today, my friend Ivoryhut shares with us a delectable Filipino holiday treat that (through happy tears) she's described to me before. I can't wait to try them. The butter…oh, the butter. –PW

the bar-7529-2This is definitely a special occasion kind of bar. Back home, we'd wrap these individually and bring them to friends, or take one to school as a snack. They're so rich and buttery and dense that, really, one square is enough. (Then you grow up, move away from home, and somehow...

Pork Loin with Cranberry Sauce

TPW_9265This was yummy!

I made it just after Thanksgiving, thinking I had plenty of leftover cranberry sauce from our Thanksgiving dinner. Of course, when I opened the fridge and reached for the stuff, it was nowhere to be found. The cranberry thieves are really a problem 'round these parts. I'm calling for Congressional hearings.

Anyway, if you haven't ever cooked a pork tenderloin, the sear-then-roast method I use is a good one, and lends itself to any number of different sauces or approaches...

But first, the winners!

Here are the two randomly selected winners of the Kitchenaid mixer:

Winner #1: #3664 Jamie – "Buttered Rosemary Rolls – I just love bread!"

(Note from Pioneer Woman – That the above referenced recipe is one from this site is purely coincidental. But those rolls…those rolls really are good.)

Winner #2: #5847 Meg – "Jamie Oliver's Banana...

Four Very Important Things

tasty2 (Inside Tip: You'll want to be sure to make it down to #4. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.)

The facts of the case are as follows:

1. Last summer, I launched Tasty Kitchen. My love handles have never been the same. Now, at long last, I've finally gotten the Tasty Kitchen Blog up and running. In the TK Blog, I'll feature collections of recipes, interview contributors, and highlight dishes that make my skirt fly up (figuratively speaking.)

Shrimp Pasta in a Foil Package

TPW_9353Now, this is a fun meal to cook. Yummy, delicious, scrumptious…and fun, fun, fun for a big group. The point here is, you just throw a bunch of sauce ingredients into a skillet, cook it up for a few minutes, then throw raw shrimp and (partially cooked) pasta on top. Then you wrap up all the deliciousness in a big foil parcel and finish off the cooking in the oven. It turns into a big, beautiful package of yum. The seafood cooks in the foil, which means all the juices and aroma stay in...

Eggs Florentine Casserole

florentine500 By Pastor Ryan.

Every Thanksgiving we have a huge breakfast at my in-laws' house. It's a smorgasbord, and it's also one of those times where our friends who don't have some place to be join us for way too much food and way too much fun. It's a sweet time where we spend a good chunk of time at the table, eating ourselves silly, but also sharing the things we are thankful for. I absolutely love Thanksgiving breakfast.

Our staples include Monkey Bread, egg casseroles, donuts, a variety of...

Monkey Muffins

TPW_9397I made cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls over Thanksgiving weekend, and was left with a medium-sized bowl of extra dough. I don't know how it happened, but it did.

I was also left with another kind of roll—the kind that makes low-rise jeans a problem. But that's outside the scope of this post.

I didn't want to roll out cinnamon rolls again—I mean, how many thousands of cinnamon rolls can one woman make in a 48-hour period? And then I remembered Pastor Ryan's Monkey Bread, which I'd made the...
