Food For Thought Friday: Pepper Pizza
I found an awesome recipe for those of you who are trying to eat healthier, who are vegetarian or who are eating Gluten Free. This 'pizza' uses the same toppings as any other pizza, but the crust is the peppers. You can tweak this recipe to suit your tastes. For example, for those who are total vegan can find vegan cheese to use instead of regular cheese.
Also, you can use any color peppers you want. I used all the sweeter ones (orange, yellow and red) as I find they have more flavor that the g...

Writing Prompt Wednesday - Laughter
They say that laughter is the best medicine. I have to agree. Even in the worst of times, if you can find one thing, no matter how small, to make you smile and laugh, things brighten up a bit.As many of you know, we have been going over a lot speed bumps lately. Things are slowly getting better but it has been tough. What has pulled us through is tickling each other's funny bone throughout the day. My Jordy is the best at knowing how to get a smile out of even the grumpiest person.
It isn't a...

Talk About It Tuesday: Creating Calmness
"Calm down" is one of the most common things that people say to me. I have always been one of those people who constantly needs to be on the go. I did four things at once, sped-walked everywhere and worried constantly when things weren't done or that I did things wrong even if something did get finished. Being on the go isn't a bad thing...it certainly makes the day go faster. But it isn't healthy staying in that place. When your body stays in a constant state of speed, worry and anxiety, it m...

Music Mantra Monday: Johnny Cash - Hurt
Yesterday was Johnny Cash's Birthday. I know we're a day late but I wanted to dedicate this week's Music Mantra to him.
I have always been a fan of Johnny's, even more so after watching, 'Walk the Line'. He was an amazing man on many levels. Yes, he made a few mistakes but...haven't we all?
'Hurt' was the last song he ever recorded before his death. It is a song that can be taken many different ways with many different interpretations. For me, I felt that he was making peace with all that he'd...

Mama's Muse: Taking Care of Mama - Six Things to Remember
For today's muse, I want to reach out to all of those other Mama's out there who are going through a tough time...no matter what the reason is. It could be family issues, personal experiences, health issues, children problems, another cause or a combination of these. No matter what the base of the problem is, it's very important not to lose you in the process of getting through it all. Now, I don't talk about certain things, such as my health, very often here on the blog because I don't l...

Writing Sample Saturday: A Young Adult (WIP) Series - Immortality Bites
I know, I know. It's been a very long time. I will explain everything in posts to come, but rest assured I am still here and am able to continue with my work.Okay, for today's writing sample I am sharing a snippet from a WIP I began for Young Adults. It is intended to be a series and it will be a challenge for me as I've never worked on books about swordplay, etc.
AH well. I never shy away from a challenge.
The books are based on the idea of the older television show, ' Highlander '. Malvina Camp...

Writing Sample Saturday: City of Angels
I've been going through some of my older works and found a gem I wanted to share. It's like a movie review with a personal touch. I wrote it for Chicken Soup For the Soul years ago and I hope you all enjoy it.Believe in guardian angels.Or at the very least, that someone truly is watching out for you.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I’ve always loved the idea of guardian angels watching over us. Someone to help us up when we fall, to comfort us while we grieve, to guide us down the path we choose...

Talk About It/Writing Prompt Wednesday: Bookiversary of Not Just Spirited
I'm so sorry that I have had to combine some of my daily posts together. We've had a lot going on around here and, well, sometimes, other things have to go on the back burner. But they can't stay there.
Life is what we make of it. Yes, that is such a cheesy saying, and I have been told that many times, but it's true. You are what you surround yourself with. You become who you are based on those you choose to be around and you have chosen to become and influenced by. You only allow your heart to...

Writing Prompt Wednesday: Strength
(We are combining our 'Talk About It' and 'Writing Prompts' today as I was unable to post yesterday.)Strength.
People's interpretation of 'strength' fascinates me. Most of us think of it in terms of the muscles or buffness you show or how much you can lift or how hard you can hit someone. But it is so much more than that.
Strength is mostly inside of us, which is something most of us don't realize. We need it to fight off health struggles we never asked for. We need it to fight against invisibl...

Music Mantra Monday: Josh Groban - You Raise Me Up
Okay, with everything going on lately, I thought we needed a little inspiration to keep us moving forward.
I know so many people who are in pain right now.,,suffering from illness, from money issues, from not feeling good enough to get through it all. But we all have that one person in our lives that gives us the courage and strength to move forward. You need that. It helps to surround yourself with people who you aspire to be, trust me, but at the same time there are precious few that are tru...
