Stories are fine with one caveat. Enough with the global warming trope; it's cliched, it's tired, and it's oh so contemporary.
Enrique's Journey by Sonia Nazario
"This is a powerful story of one child, representative of 48,000 children per year, who leave Central America and Mexico each year in search of their mothers in the United States. Enrique's mom, while she lived in the Honduras, scrubbed laundry in..." Read more of this review »

Perhaps this book's insight were fresh back in "84, but now it's mostly well known psych.

"Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 is a novel that transcends it's dystopian theme and delivers its cautionary message in a timeless fashion, what made this story compelling in 1953 remains provocative.

It is a strident call to arms, a warning siren of dar..." Read more of this review »

A young black guy has friends, a girl interest, and a Single mom.

His mother tells him she's gay. He freaks out, but then he has a walk on the beach with his mother's love interest.

Sophomoric even for a young person's book
