Heather Grothaus has published twelve novels since 2006, which
have been translated into several foreign languages. She fell in love with
historical romance after reading a Kathleen E. Woodiwiss novel when she
was far too young to be doing so, and has since built a
reputation for crafting twisting adventures, laugh-out-loud dialogue, and
heart-wrenching emotion. When she’s not writing, she spends her time
gardening, listening to music, reading, and
watching Sherlock. She lives on a small farm in Kentucky with her family.

Hi, Regina!
I research all of my novels through a variety of resources--mostly historical accounts by authors and university professors who specialize in medieval history. My favorite research books are the more encyclopedic-types that pick up on a specific aspect of the time period I'm writing (Highland clans, battles of the Crusades, food, church teachings of the medieval underworld, etc.). For my Sons of Scotland series, I've had a great time researching Scottish land/title holders, as well as how the Highland clans lived (there are some great sites in Scotland that have preserved and recreated blackhouses). The idea for the entire series was actually sparked by a newspaper clipping I discovered tucked inside my 1839 copy of Lodge's Peerage. Your husband's ancestry sounds like a fascinating tale!
Thanks for your question! I hope you enjoy The Laird's Vow!
