Bonnie Schroeder has been a storyteller since the fifth grade, when her teacher suggested she put her vivid imagination to work as a writer. She took the advice to heart and has pursued the craft of fiction ever since. In addition to her women’s fiction novels, she is the author of numerous short stories, screenplays, and nonfiction articles. She lives in Glendale, California.

Another approach might be an online group. I can recommend the Women's Fiction Writers Association (http://womensfictionwriters.org/index...). Membership is about $45 a year, and they have a lot of networking resources, including a critique forum via a private Facebook group.

Other writers can spot plot holes or characters that are "off" much easier than you, the writer--you're often too close to the work. A critique group can also point out your strengths, so you can build on them.

Also, never give up! It took me over six years (and 167 query letters) to find a publisher for MENDING DREAMS. But I knew it was a story worth telling, and one that people would want to read, so I persisted.(less)
