Have You Ever Been Tempted to Make a Citizen’s Arrest?
In my new book Compulsion, protagonist Emily Stone makes it her mission to track down the criminals who terrorize neighborhoods in her home city and beyond. If there is a pedophile, rapist, or murderer yet to be captured, Stone will be hot on his trail. She uses her recording equipment, her trusted firearm for protection, and her keen instinct concerning the criminal mind to gather evidence that she then hands over to police. Emily Stone, for reasons both of safety and the ability to continue to

Thank you once again for all the great reviews you are sending me!
Superb! A must-read! Belongs in the library of every serious reader….need I say more?
Chase has really outdone herself with the first in a series of cop thrillers. Compulsion is nothing but the quintessential page-turner that every reader hopes for when they first open a new book. Comparable to the likes of Lawrence Sanders’ Deadly Sins series, Compulsion and the books to follow are sure to generate a loyal following.
The main character, Emily, is smart, cunning, full of piss and vinegar alon

Here's what police officers are saying about "Compulsion"
Being a police officer is a tough and dangerous job. I respect and applaud their tireless efforts to keep us safe. I mourn with them when an officer is killed in the line of duty. I thank them for the freedoms we sometimes take for granted in a civilized society. I am so inspired that they enjoyed my book.
"Jennifer Chase has hit on the core of Homicide investigations. The every day life that includes the investigation and the gritty reality of what it takes to catch a crook like this. As a forme

Gone To The Dogs – Clifford’s Story
Clifford’s story begins in a backyard puppy mill. It is a place where animals are bred and housed in appalling conditions for the sole purpose to make money. These are not breeders or trained animal handlers, these are people who see the opportunity to make money from breeding all types of animals. Some of these animals die, some suffer from disease and malnutrition, and a few lucky ones get a second chance to find a loving home. Clifford’s story doesn’t end there. He finds a few homes in the f

Which Cities Could Use Emily Stone the Most?
Have you ever gotten so frustrated with the crime that you see occurring in your neighborhood that you are tempted to take the law into your own hands? It could be small issues like teenagers who repeatedly leave rolls of toilet paper strung through the trees of elderly members in the community or drivers who carelessly throw trash out the window while driving down your suburban street. Or, maybe you have noticed a scary increase in more serious crimes, such as strange men talking to children o

Would Emily Stone Pass the Test?
In my new novel Compulsion, Emily Stone is a strong female personality in a world that is largely dominated by men. She is a private investigator who has to use both her brains and her physical strength to stay one step ahead of the criminals who she is tracking and trying to bring to justice. When circumstances force her to step out of the shadows and request help from others, she faces some prejudice and uncertainty from people who do not think a woman can handle the life-threatening situations in which she sometimes finds herself. While Emily works completely on her terms, I thought it would be interesting to review some of the requirements for those who do join the police force right here in my home state of California.
According to the guidelines established by the Los Angeles Police Department, there are no height and weightrequirements but “your weight must be appropriate for your height and build.” I wonder who makes that subjective decision. I imagine there have been more than a few disagreements between police hopefuls and their reviewers over this semantic nightmare. Also, all candidates must complete a physical abilities test (PAT), which measures strength, agility, and endurance during the first round and a subsequent treadmill test. As her proud creator, I know Emily Stone very well and I am fully confident that she would prove herself more than qualified.
When you read Compulsion, you will quickly discover Emily Stone’s physical strength as she protects herself against intruders and the very criminals she hopes to capture. You also will appreciate the mental acuity she displays in instances where pure manpower (or should it be “womanpower”?) simply is not enough.
You can purchase Compulsion here and judge Emily Stone’s abilities for yourself.
