AVOIDING BAD NEWS

  Last night, my cousin Liz visiting from Denver, my wife Ann, and I decided to see the Groundlings, a comedy troupe on trendy Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. FROM A MIDWESTERN CHAIR

Cheers from Minnesota, where winter ended about twenty minutes ago. Snow stands in pastry puffs here and there. Birds flutter onto naked tree limbs while squirrels forage for food on the ground.
