Lesley-Anne McLeod is a devoted Anglophile. She has written twelve full-length Regency-set romances (two of which dabble in time travel), six novellas and a book of Regency short stories. All are available as ebooks; the book of short stories is also available in print.

Lesley-Anne has an extensive research library and loves investigating historical details. Her Pinterest, Tumblr and Instagram accounts all display her fascination with the Regency era. An avid reader of contemporary and historical fiction, Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer are her particular idols.

When she is not writing, researching, or reading, Lesley-Anne is gardening or sewing, all in the company of her two cats.

Jane Austen was twenty that summer and may have perused this copy of Bell's journal. So I thought you might be interested to learn what she was readi

“Jane Austen’s world is a unique wedge of history, immortalized by her wonderful books. It is ironic that I am fascinated by the Regency world in all its details, when Jane Austen seldom mentions any of those facts. She never mentions the war raging in Europe, her characters are apparently unaware of the industrialization shortly to overtake them. The revolution of steam travel does not touch her people–they travel by coach, horse, and foot.” and “There is no doubt that Austen herself was aware of the world around her and its imminent change. But her characters live in the world of the family, the village and the heart–and are loved because of it. The trappings of the greater world do not impinge on Jane Austen’s books.”

“Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery.”

“When we read, we start at the beginning and continue until we reach the end. When we write, we start in the middle and fight our way out.”
