ORGANIZE NOW….Plan ahead !

Almost everyone begins the new year hoping to be more organized; to do better in the days ahead.  Be specific and take concrete steps.  ”GET HEALTHY” is a great goal but “drink more water” is one that you can check off your list every day.  Add a few other steps and the small successes will lead to your greater goals.

While you’re planning ahead take a minute to look back over the past few weeks and make a plan that will help you tackle the end of 2014 with more peace and sanity.  What worked for you this year?  What didn’t?  If you take the time to tackle a few mini projects now it will lighten your load when the holidays roll around again.

~Pour a cup of tea or a glass of wine and update your address book.

~ Put holiday cards in a box and label it so that you know how many are left and how many you need to buy for next year.  If you do this now you can take advantage of the sales.  Consider putting a book of stamps in there now.  You’ll be happy to find them at the end of the year when the lines are long at the post office.

~ When you’re making room for new clothes and toys pull some for donation.  If you’re undecided about whether or not you’re ready to get rid of something put it in a box or bag and tuck it away for a few months.  If you don’t miss it there’s a good chance it would be more appreciated by someone else.

~ The bubble wrap and “too used” tissue paper that’s headed for trash can be stacked and stored.  If you’re lucky enough to have space for this (and really a large shirt box pushed under a bed will do) you’ll always have something ready when you need to mail a package or store something breakable.

~ The leftover food from your New Year’s celebration does NOT need to be eaten in one sitting.  It’s better off in your freezer than on your thighs.  The same holds true for the cookies and candy.  Freeze it, serve it to guests, take it to social services.

LETTING GO

There are a lot of jokes about New Year’s Resolutions but there’s nothing wrong with using a new year to make changes.   Take some time to evaluate where you’re at and where you want to be.  Let go of the things that don’t serve you and make a plan to go after the one which will.

Marilu often uses a target analogy.  If you aim at the bulls eye you’ll have a better chance of hitting an inner ring.   Be deliberate and precise.  Use community to help you reach your target.

NO BOUNDARIES

If you’ve ever noticed Marilu’s boundless energy you won’t be surprised to find out that it flows into everything she touches…especially this community.  We’re simultaneously finishing out the year in a mindful deliberate way, (supporting one another and adding GUSTO to our workouts, our menus and our holiday plans) while looking to the year ahead.

Join us to get a jump start on 2014 with our brand new class NO BOUNDARIES  beginning on January 6th.

Here’s an idea of where this class, led by the FABULOUS Coach Jan, will take us:

We all establish boundaries of many kinds, many starting with “I can’t” or containing what I call the “Big But!” (You know, “I want to, BUT…” ) This class will be discovering the boundaries we have created, then figuring out how to break through them to achieve our goals and dreams. We’ll discuss things such as New Year’s resolutions,  strategies for eliminating negative self talk, treating ourselves kindly, where to find motivation, losing our big buts, getting off our big butts and so much more. We will make concrete plans to reach our goals that will improve our lives and health!

Is that what you need for the new year?  Click here to join:   http://www.marilu.com/becomemember.php

Already a member?  Why not give a friend a membership for 2014?  What a great way to pay it forward, and having a friend in your life who supports your goals can be invaluable.

If you purchase a yearly membership for a friend they will be notified by Marilu herself !

A.P.R.

“THERE ARE THREE PARTS TO EVERY EVENT;  ANTICIPATION, PARTICIPATION, AND RECOLLECTION, AND THE GREATEST OF THESE IS RECOLLECTION.”

Joe Henner (Marilu’s father)

As 2013 draws to a close keep this concept in mind.   Is there something that you are anticipating for the upcoming New Year holiday or the year ahead?  What recollections from 2013 are you enjoying as you look back?

FIX IT

We’re all about whole food and if you’re like many people who have celebrated too much the past few days (or weeks, or months!) you’re probably looking forward to a fresh start with some good whole foods.  We have two suggestions.  The first is to check out membership here at Marilu.com.  Joining now will give you access to our brand new January class NO BOUNDARIES beginning on January 6th.

Our second suggestion is to stock up on some fresh produce, particularly the following fruits to help turn around that crummy feeling you get when you’ve overdone.

Too much of this:                                                  Try this:

CARBS                                                                                 APPLES

PROTEIN                                                                            PAPAYA

SALT                                                                                    WATERMELON

SUGAR                                                                                 GRAPES

LOOKING AHEAD

Here’s some holiday wisdom from Marilu that will help you de-stress from the crazy crowds and hectic schedule of the last few weeks.  Following this advice could help put you in a better frame of mind for the upcoming New Year’s festivities.

“New Year’s Eve is coming.  Heat up as you chill out by taking a nice long baking-soda bath.  Play soft music, light some candles, and just relax.  It’s a great way to unwind after all the shopping, cooking, and running around.  Plus, you need it to prepare for the partying you’re going to be doing from now until the end of the year!”

Another way to gain an advantage in 2014 is to become a member here at Marilu.com and be in time for our January class; NO BOUNDARIES.

HOLIDAY MEMORIES

If you have family and friends together for holiday events be sure to live in the moment.   Focus on the people and refuse to be overwhelmed by tasks.  Here’s a tip from Marilu on how to make a special tradition and generate memories for years to come.

“Have the little ones put together a talent show, play or musical for the final night of your holiday time together.  The older kids can direct and organize it, which is great for keeping young ones occupied with rehearsals so the adults can get some grown-up time together.  Don’t forget to record it.  My family has done this every holiday, and we love watching the archival footage each year. “
