Simple tea
We've discovered a lazy new way to make tea, and to have a "fancy" beverage at the same time.
We open a bottle of flavored (no sweeteners added!) sparkling water – we like the sparkling lime water or sparkling lemon water for this.
Then we roll up an herbal tea bag – no strings, staples or tags, please – and drop it in the bottle. Our current favorite is Raspberry Zinger from Celestial Seasonings.
It only takes a couple of minutes for the teabag to start flavoring (and coloring) the...
Everything is connected…
The way you eat is connected to the way you feel. And the way you feel shows in the way you look. The way you look influences the way people respond to you. The way people respond affects how you think of yourself. How you think of yourself is reflected in your behaviors.
Eat well. You may just change the whole scope of your life.
(and you thought food was just fuel…)

Food is God's pharmacy
It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… All before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners…
God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body! God's Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… And...

Thinner is well-rested
If you're eating a healthy diet and working out regularly, the quality of your sleep has probably already improved. (As Marilu says, everything is connected to everything!)
You also want to look at the quantity of your sleep. People who get 5 or fewer hours of sleep per night are 55 percent more likely to be obese than those who log 8 hours a night. Sleep deprivation may increase your output of hunger hormones, turn off your fullness hormones, and bring on cravings for foods like sugary...
Featured recipe from Marilu's table * Creamy daikon soup
We love the clean, fresh feeling that a bowl of daikon soup gives us. Daikon is one of those veggies that was once strange and new, but has become a great friend. It's a root veggie, looks kind of like a fat white (or white-ish) carrot. You can find daikon radishes in the produce section of your health food store or Asian market. It can be eaten raw (usually grated or sliced thin) or cooked.
Daikon is very low in calories. A 3-ounce serving contains only 18 calories and provides 34...

Spirit Sunday * Preparing for change
Go, sit upon the lofty hill,
And turn your eyes around,
Where waving woods and waters wild
Do hymn an autumn sound.
The summer sun is faint on them –
The summer flowers depart –
Sit still — as all transform'd to stone,
Except your musing heart.

Choose water
Make water your only beverage today. Keep it with you. Carry a refillable bottle – and refill it!
Carry it in your purse, briefcase, or backpack.
Keep it in your car.
Bring it to your meetings, classes, office, the gym.
Bring it to the field, the park, the mall.
Keep it with you while you exercise, while you talk on the phone, while you answer your email.
Drink half your weight in ounces of water each day, up to 100 oz/day.

Detox in the tub * part 2
Soaking in the tub encourages your body to perspire, which is one of the ways your body cleanses itself from toxins.
If you're feeling achy and sore, a soak in hot water infused with salt together with baking soda will help revive you. Your body produces acidic waste as part of its metabolic cycle, and that waste buildup can clog the lymph system, causing body aches, fatigue and brain fog. Soak in an alkaline bath to help balance your internal pH.
Just add 2 cups of kosher salt and 2 cups ...

Fitness Friday * School day fitness
Stay involved in your child's physical education classes at school.
Ask about the frequency of classes, the length of classes, the activities, class size and curriculum. Ask about the teacher's philosophy concerning children's fitness.
While you're at it, ask about recess – frequency and length, and what kids are able to do during that time.
If possible, offer to help coach an activity you're good at. Remember – if you're not moving, your kids won't move either.
Weekend warriors!
It's the weekend! I don't know the words to this song and I don't care. I love this song. And I really love it when I watch the video of Owen Pallett singing during a rainstorm at a concert in Guelph, Ontario [below:]. It shows what determination can do despite everything else that's going on around you. And that's how you should be this weekend: determined and staying the course despite the temptations and madness of other people.
