And now back to work-Anyone want to join me?
So much to say about ALA and how fantastico it was. And how cool it was to talk to Kristin Cashore and Gregory Maguire at the Simmons event. And so much to fret over my reading, which I feel I failed at due to my dang nerves. And so many people to thank, especially Cindy Faughnan and my wonderful students who showed up. Love love love you all.
But instead I must work. Must.
I'd love a writing buddy today. Or two. Or twenty. So if you want to work together, please leave a comment.
xoxo

LIBBA and REBECCA!!!!!!!!!!
Last week on Facebook I said I wrote my hopes for the Newbery and Printz on a heart-shaped piece of paper and would only share if they won.
Guess what?
YAHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew WHEN YOU REACH ME (which is one of my favorite books of all time and YAYAYAYAYAYAY REBECCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) was dubbed the Newbery winner months and months ago, but I still had high hopes that my other personal favorite would be among the honors. However, the other honors choices were fantastic too. So YAY to ...

Thankful Thursday
Boy, it's been ages since I did one of these. Listening to the news about Haiti on my drove home from school this morning, I felt pretty uncomfortable about having any fun today at the pajama party planned to celebrate a brave friend who gave up her day job to pursue her dream. When I got home I scanned through my LJ friends posts and saw many heartfelt words about this horrible tragedy, and calls to send whatever we can to help. And it made me think about how crazy and unpredictable and beau...

Two posts in one day? Someone stop me.
This is just to say, my DREAM BIG post is up over at Lisa Schroeder's blogs.
If you're on LiveJournal, it's here.
And if you're on Blogspot, it's here.
Thank you so much to Lisa for doing this series. It was a real honor to be a part of it. And thanks to everyone who has left comments over there. They make me so happy and grateful. *hearts you all*

Lovely things... and write with me?
There are a bunch of things on my plate that are stressing me out right now. Really. Stressing. Anxiety-dream inducing. You would not BELIEVE the one I had this morning. Oy.
So I've decided to channel my inner Julie Andrews and try to think good thoughts to keep myself from cowering under my covers. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. It's working a bit. That, and my THIS IS THE YEAR OF BEING BRAVE mantra.
I decided to write down a few of my favorite things as a reminder. For everyone ...

LJ Meet-Up at ALA!
I know meeting up at huge conferences can be really hard. BUT, I thought we could at least try, since I know huge conferences can also be really overwhelming and a little scary, even when all the participants are awesome librarians. :-)
So, if you'd like to say hey to some other LJ friends (and of course you don't have to be an LJ user), mosey on over to the entrance/lobby area of the exhibit halls on Saturday at 1:00.
If you think you'd like to try, please leave a comment below so I know to l...

1. Kerry Madden has posted a wonderful essay about hitting rock bottom, and surviving. It's a beautiful read.
2. Will you be at ALA this year?
I was asked to participate in a reading at Simmons College the same weekend, so I decided to get an exhibits pass while I'm there. I've only been to ALA once, several years ago. But I remember how wonderful it was to walk the exhibit halls and watch all the eager librarians and book publishers share their love and passion for books and reading. I can't...
