Excerpt from To Save the Day-My Amazon Short

An excerpt from my sweet super hero romance urban fantasy short that's only 49 cents. Find it at http://www.amazon.com/Save-Day-Sapphi...

Sarah Schoenfeld found herself surrounded by a gang of young toughs. Everyone of them clutched sharp knives, except for the leader. He held a gun, with its muzzle pointed directly at her chest.

She had taken the short cut through the alley, hoping to cut off her time by ten minutes as she was late for work. Instead, it looked like she would be late.

Real late.

With a nasty grin the leader trailed the gun slowly over her breasts. “Guess we got ourselves a plaything,” his grin disappeared, "besides any goodies she might have in her purse. Jake, get her purse and let’s take a look-see.”

“’Kay, Alonzo.”

Jake, burly and with a distinct, nasty odor, tore the purse from Sarah's grip. He opened it and rifled inside. He found her makeup case and threw it to the cement. It cracked in half, scattering makeup and pieces of glass. He kept tossing out what he deemed was worthless, until he came to her wallet. Lifting it out, he handed it over to another boy.

With a careless flick of his wrist Jake tossed the empty purse into a nearby trash can. The other boy opened her wallet and discovered a twenty dollar bill plus two credit cards and her bank card. That, and pictures of friends and family, and the odd store coupon here and there, was all she had in it.

Alonzo shoved the gun’s muzzle hard against Sarah’s throat, bruising it. “How much is on your credit cards and in your bank account?”

She licked her lips nervously. “I have nothing in my checking account until Friday this week when my paycheck is deposited, and both credit cards are maxed out.”

“Bitch!” snarled Alonzo. “Well, you better hope you're a good piece of ass, then.”

“Excuse me, but I think the lady doesn't want to kiss you, much less have sex with you,” broke in a strange male voice, the tone, deep and compelling.

“Who said that?” asked Alonzo, looking around frantically.

“I did.”

The owner of the voice appeared suddenly near the gang leader. A swing of his fist and he slammed Alonzo into the brick building.

In a sudden whirlwind, the stranger circled the other members of the gang and sent them flying in various directions. Five minutes later, Sarah saw the gang members lying unconscious on the ground, in a large blue trash container, and one slung over a fire escape high above her.

Then her 'hero' stood before her. Dressed from head to foot in black, an embroidered emblem of a large white G on his chest, he also wore a black hood with a white mask attached to it. The only part of his flesh that she could see was the bottom half of his face, in which his lips gleamed with a sexy smile. As he drew near she saw his eyes peering out of the mask, twin pools of endless blue. Taller than she—and she was tall for a woman at five foot, nine—he stood about six foot, four.

“Thank you. If you hadn’t come when you did those creeps would have gotten more than I wanted to give.”

“No need for thanks,” he replied with a big grin. “Any good citizen would have helped such a beautiful woman in distress.” He reached behind his back and produced her purse. Looking inside, she saw that it contained her wallet
and everything else, except for the broken makeup case. “I would suggest though not taking a short cut through alleys like this again.”

“Oh, I won’t. I promise you.”

New Review for Being Familiar With a Witch

Happily Ever After Reviews did a review of my erotic urban fantasy, Being Familiar With a Witch, giving it 4 1/2 teacups!

Here's some of what the reviewer said:
The sex scenes were scorching and sexual tension thick. Poor Charun held back his overwhelming needs to play the gentleman with Tina. Besides the sex and humor, we have a story about saving the human realm from evil and another theme of ‘love conquers all’.
Being Familiar with a Witch was a quick, fun and entertaining read. With Sapphire Phelan, you’re sure to be in for a treat, but not always sugar and spice.

Book Blurb:
Tina and Charun thought it was all over and that their life would be normal—well, as normal as it could be for an immortal Witch and her demon Familiar. Except there was another prophesy, one that laid claim that if Lucifer snatches Tina and mates with her before the last chime before midnight of the new year and gets her pregnant with his son, that the real Armageddon would begin, spelling the end of life as they knew it.

When Tina is stolen away, Charun, along with Jacokb the archangel, must race against time into the bowels of Hell to rescue her. But with demons, Lucifer, and a cute demon bunny with fangs out of a Monty Python nightmare, out to stop them and Heaven not lending a hand, will Tina become the mother of the Antichrist and the start of a new Hell on Earth?
