And the answer is . . .

So yesterday I had avery quick (blink and you'll miss it) interview with Radio Kent - and that question came up again.

No, not the 'formula' one. Or even the 'How many of those do you churn out . . .' one. No this was the even more basic, even more frequently repeated one:

'Why do you think these books are so popular.'

So I gave the interviewer some answers - like the fact that they are about relationships and we are all fascinated by relationships. That they are about couples/people . . .ditto....

Today I'm talking about . . .

Some days I can sit here at my desk and it's just me and the keyboard. Perhaps a cat or two. Then at other times the world comes knocking, usually in the form or request for interview etc and this usually happens when Harlequin Mills & Boon are in the news for some reason or other and then people want to find out more.

So today I've already agreed to two interviews. One with Radio Kent and one with Radio Lincolnshire.
The Kent one is today at about 1.50 - I'm assuming that's on the Pat Marsh...

. . .and again

T oday I'm out and about again - blogging over on the Pink Heart Society site.

As it's Monday, my topic is the famous Male on Monday slot - but I've been greedy today and not limited myself to just one male but a type of man that sets my pulse rate pounding.

And if it's greedy, well it's my birthday this week so I indulge myself a little - can 't I?

Talking of birthdays I want to send very special birthday greetings to one of my very special friends, and a real favourite writer of romances I just...

Blogging about again

It's the first Sunday of May today - and regular visitors will know that that means that today I'm guest blogging elsewhere - over on Tote Bags 'N' Blogs to be precise.

I'm talking about a special event that's coming up later this week.

And because of thatI'll be celebrating a bit here on my blog - and for me celebrating means sharing with my readers so why not call back through the week and see if you can end up celebrating too?

Dylan's Happy Week

It's been a bit chaotic here for the past week. We have had the plumber in replacing the fittings in the cloakroom and mending a couple of pipes. A joiner hanging a new door and making a gate and a new fence. And a couple of other buildrs ripping out the ceiling in one room and rebuilding it so that it now actually has some proper insulatiuon in there instead of the couple of bits of cotton wool that seemed to be all there was there before.

So it's been noisy, dusty, messy and chaotic. And...

Reasons why I love my job . . .

Sometimes I curse and swear when a character won't behave or a plot gets totally knotted, but really, althought slightly wierd, writing romance is a great way to earn a living.

Some days there are parcels and parcels of books that arrive - this last week alone, there have been

[image error] French editions of The Sicilian's Red-Hot Revenge, and The Spaniard's Inconvenient Wife and Cordero's Forced Bride.
Brazilian editions of Cordero's Forced Bride, Bedded By the Greek Billionaire, The Greek Tycoon's...

The trouble with Sid . . .

. . . is that he takes his duties as a host too seriously.

Whenever we have visitors he has to check that the bed is comfortable . . .

Make sure that the chairs are just purrfect . . .

Deal with any paperwork that needs doing . . .

And then he spends lots of time being great company for the visitor before he gets down to the important job in hand . . .

Of picking winners of prizes.

But at last I managed to drag him away from being stroked, having that special spot behind his ears rubbed, being...

Dreadlines and Publication dates

I know that a lot of people reading this blog are would-be New Writers (as the RNA labels them) People who are aiming to be published, partway there, trying to learn the ropes etc . . . The sort of people I was talking about in my We Write Romance post yesterday.

But of course as soon as you reach that wonderful, magical day when you get 'The Call' and are told that someone is buying your manuscript and turning it into an actual published book, then everything changes. You become a published...
