J. D. Nelson (b. 1971) experiments with words in his subterranean laboratory. His poetry has appeared in many small press publications, worldwide, since 2002. Nelson’s work is influenced by the Beat writers, especially Jack Kerouac’s spontaneous prose technique and the cut-up technique pioneered by William S. Burroughs. Most of his work is created through the cutting up and collaging of his own freewriting. His work is also influenced by Dada and Surrealism. He is the author of ten print chapbooks and e-books of poetry, including *Cinderella City* (The Red Ceilings Press, 2012). His first full-length collection, *in ghostly onehead* was published in December 2022 by Post-Asemic Press. His poem, “to mask a little bird” was nominated for Best ...more

“As long as Man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings, he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.”
Pythagoras

William S. Burroughs
“This is a war universe. War all the time. That is its nature. There may be other universes based on all sorts of other principles, but ours seems to be based on war and games. All games are basically hostile. Winners and losers. We see them all around us: the winners and the losers. The losers can oftentimes become winners, and the winners can very easily become losers. ”
