Pat Black-Gould is proud to announce that her children's book, The Crystal Beads, Lalka's Journey won the Gold Medal in Moonbeam's Children's Book Awards, a Gold Medal from Northern Lights Book Awards, and a Vinnie Ream Honorable Mention Award from the National League of American Pen Women.

Pat Black-Gould, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and author. Her short stories have appeared in several literary journals and anthologies.

Many years ago, Pat heard a powerful story about a little girl during the Holocaust that haunted her until she committed it to paper. The Crystal Beads was first published in Jewish Fiction. net in 2020.

The short story then won first-place honors in two writing competitions conducted by the National League of Americ

The Paper Clip Project

As I was writing The Crystal Beads, Lalka’s Journey, my book about the Holocaust, I wondered how hatred had the power to destroy millions of lives.

Since my book was written for children, I thought about how we can teach youngers about compassion and caring so something like this would never happen again? That’s when I discovered Whitwell Middle School, located in a small town in rural Tennessee. Read more of this blog post »
