Luis is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and has served overseas in the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

He graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas with a degree in International Relations and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

He was inspired to write by the imagery, prose, and themes of classics like Sherlock Holmes, Atlas Shrugged, and The Old Man and the Sea. His interests writing were influenced by the works of great authors like Tom Clancy, David Baldacci, Lisa Gardner, Hank Phillipi Ryan, Fiona Quinn, Jack Carr, Corinne Michaels, and Jason Matthews among others.
