A team of men traveled to Ecuador in 1956 to introduce the isolated Auca Indians to Christian teaching. Jim Elliot was one of these men. All five men were murdered by the Indians shortly after making initial contact.
Jim died at the age of 29. His widow Elisabeth Elliot, published several books that included his letters and journals.
