Reader, writer, wanderer, vegan.

I have been been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. I love discovering new authors from all around the world and am happiest when engrossed in a compelling novel with tea and cake to hand.

I review books on two sites of my own:

My WorldReads focuses on works by global authors and has a monthly Readalong book club, discounts and giveaway news, author interviews and lots more.

Stephanie Jane is a vegan-themed hub with my own memoir, Finally a Vegan, for sale in the shop.

I find putting my thoughts down in writing helps to clarify them and I have a far better memory for something I have both read and written about. It helps to define the 'shape of the book' for me (as Virginia Woolf described in her essay. Is this true for everyone?

I was inspired to write my own book, Finally A Vegan, by the same need to refine my thoughts. I struggle to succinctly express myself verbally when blindsided with unexpected questions so this was the perfect way to prepare my arguments and I enjoyed challenging myself to truly think about what veganism means to me.(less)

I got the idea to write this memoir because it is a book I would have liked to have found for myself.
I hope sharing my experience through Finally A Vegan: My Journey to Veganuary and Beyond will reassure and enthuse vegan-curious readers, especially those about to undertake their own Veganuary challenge.(less)

My Week in Books

My big news this week is the start of the month-long Underneath - A Merfolk Tale Readalong on My WorldReads. I'm reading one or two chapters each day then taking a while to mull them over and chat about what I have read. This is such a different experience for me - a reader who usually devours books faster than a pack of vegan mince pies! - and it is amazing to be actually chatting with Underneath Read more of this blog post »

Stephanie Jane Does anyone know if it is possible to change the read date through the kindle app or is it only doable on the website? I just added a review and rating to Monarchy: England and Her Rulers from the Tudors to the Windsors but the record kept the date at which I had added the book to Goodreads, not giving me the option to change it to today's date.
