A literary and women's fiction author living in the south of Spain, Dani J. Norwell writes fiction that is real, raw, and relatable. From themes of connection, disappointment, and family bonds in her debut, Fairly Familiar, to topics such as exploration, self-discovery, and life abroad in her most recent collection of stories, Snapshots of Spain, there’s something for everyone in a DJN book.

When Dani is not reading or writing, you can find her blogging, traveling, sipping Spanish wine, or seeking out dogs to pet on her walks around town. She is currently working on her first novel.

Uncertain of what I should work on at the time, I was starting everyday with a prompted "free-write." I'd set my alarm for 15 minutes, then feverishly type whatever came to mind to complete the sentence I had randomly selected from a list of prompts. Many of these were rubbish but a handful really intrigued me and I realized, once I collected all of those good starts in one place, that the connecting theme was that they were all about family relationships. So that's how it got started.(less)

Over the course of 2022, I've written the first draft of two separate novels and am actively working on one of them (the currently unnamed "Havenswood project") for publication in 2023.

Both of these books fall into the women's fiction genre and deal with topics of personal growth, relationships, and self-discovery.(less)

Coming off a book that took me a long time to get into, the quick pace and ease with which this story drew me in was much appreciated. It's your typical suspenseful novel in a lot of way- seemingly idyllic suburban wife, something shocking happens th ...more

I know I'm in the stark minority on this, but Fable was only a 2.5, maybe 3, star-read for me. Granted, I don't think I'm the target audience, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

So many people have recommended and raved about this book t

I enjoyed this story, but at the same time, it wasn't anything outstanding. I was invested in both the mother and daughter's storylines. Still, I found the way they came together in the end to be a bit convenient, especially insofar as Daisy was invo ...more

I'm surprised to say this, but I enjoyed this quasi-companion novel even more than the original The Crack Between Us. I guess many readers "loved to hate / hated to love" Jackson, but I have just loved him from the start. His actions aren't always pe ...more

“She pushed her chair away from the desk and wandered into the kitchen where she gazed out the window and thought. There were birds chirping cheerfully and two squirrels chasing each other without a care in the world. She wanted to be like those squirrels. Or at least to appear like them to the rest of the world.”
Dani J. Norwell, Fairly Familiar: A Collection of Short Stories

“It actually doesn’t matter if you take solace in religion, support groups, or embroidery. The important part is that you find solace for yourself.”
Dani J. Norwell, Fairly Familiar: A Collection of Short Stories

“She was heading off on an adventure all on her own—well, accompanied by Mom and Dad—and anything could happen. She smiled at the possibilities and hit the open road.”
