Again, sorry for getting the Renn Festival to sell out early. I try not to be quite so awesome in public, but sometimes I slip up. It’s not always easy to remember, 24/7/365.25.

The “It took a minute to grow on me” MICKEY 17 trailer.
MICKEY 17 is funny, because it’s describing a horrible situation, and the guy who it’s being horrible to is pretty much just… okay, fine, that’s just how my lives go. This movie is classic Dark Humor, and I feel slightly bad for laughing. But I’m still thinking about seeing it.

I figured out what was missing from this story: it needed more Edgar Allen Poe. So I did some reading tonight, and now I have a pretty good idea what happens now. So all I have to do is write it.

Our wonderful anti-Pope is of the first group, but not the second. He has no greater goal this night than to rut and squeal until the Dragon-Bitch comes with her scouring fires.” He chuckled. “Perhaps he even thinks he can hide here down below, until she goes away.”

It’s always nice when you forget the exact date a book is out, so that it shows up as a surprise in your Kindle library. Naomi Novik’s BURIED DEEP AND OTHER STORIES has just dropped, and I am enjoying it greatly. There’s been a Scholomance and a Temeraire story so far, and the anthology isn’t even half finished. Hooray!

Full disclosure: I know a couple of the folks at Green Ronin, and I’d like to sell some stuff to at least one of them in the near future. That being said, I did back The Expanse Roleplaying Game: Transport Union Edition: I’m trying to get back into the books, and what I’ve managed to watch of the show so far is excellent. Also, doing my due diligence I can tell you that the company absolutely hates AI prompts. Finally, this project at least is using regional distributors (and thus I think operating under a print-on-demand system generally). I’m personally satisfied that the product is ethically sourced, in other words.

I don’t know whether THE WAVES OF MADNESS is an awesomely stupid idea, or a stupidly awesome one. All I know is I saw the beginning, said Huh. Maybe they should have have noticed that this looks like a side-shooter, and then the credits said “The Worlds First Side-Scrolling Film.”
…Great. Now that lack of apostrophe is gonna haunt me. Still. They get points for trying. And maybe it won’t* be bad.

TIME BANDITS canceled.
I do not say, ‘Never remake TIME BANDITS.’ I do not even say, ‘You have to be as good as Terry Gilliam to remake TIME BANDITS.’ I do say, “Do not let your ego write checks that your body can’t cash.” The new TIME BANDITS show did not seem to have much more of a reason to exist than, “Not enough people have seen this movie, so let’s do it as a series.” Which is… fine; but it would have been much more efficient to simply widely re-release the original flick in theaters, and put some advertising behind it.
…Hey, would that strategy have worked worse?
