The last season trailer of STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS.
I’m fine with this being the last season, mind you. Five and done, and STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS doesn’t outstay its welcome. This is, I feel, smart. I’m just glad they got four seasons out of the concept, and hopefully a fifth one as well.
(I don’t judge anybody who doesn’t like this show, by the way. I have an amiable disposition towards shows, and a weird sense of humor. I recognize that people like stuff that I don’t, and vice versa, and it’s not a moral judgment either way.)
(SCOOBY-DOO: MYSTERY INCORPORATED is still the best Scooby-Doo, though. I’m not wavering on this one, sorry.)

MD Renn Festival in two days!
Supposed to be sunny, mid-seventies, and thus undoubtedly packed to the rafters. Excellent book-selling weather then… one hopes. I’ll try to get some photos of the space this go-round.
As always, if you can’t buy my books then, feel free to buy ’em now.

Sort of successful on the Aurora Borealis front.
As in, my wife and I went out on a lovely, clear night to look at the stars. We found a dark spot, along with a bunch of other people, and then the person with the best camera got the settings to work right so that we could all see it. Success! I can check that off now, more or less.
Alas, no good pictures on my end. My wife and I discussed the possibilities of an Iceland trip on the drive back. I like volcanoes, and think Vikings are pretty cool; she likes Vikings, and thinks volcanoes are pretty neat. So this might end up being a retirement trip at some point.
Henry Cavill apparently watched VOLTRON as a child.
Either that, or he still does, and collects them. I mean…
DC Universe star Henry Cavill is set to headline Amazon MGM’s feature adaptation of popular anime Voltron which Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing.
Cavill joins previously announced star Daniel Quinn-Toye. Thurber is directing the film from a script he wrote with Ellen Shanman. The storyline is being kept secret.
…the man’s career has essentially been an ongoing opportunity for Henry Cavill to geek out and get paid glorious sums of money for it. I say that without any bitterness in my heart whatsoever. I enjoyed watching Simon Pegg get to be in all the cool stuff, and I enjoy watching Cavill doing it for the exact same reason: both actors are fully aware how ridiculously awesome this all is. I always like to see fellow geeks do well for themselves.

PS: A live-action Voltron would be nice, but why isn’t a Japanese studio doing it?
10/10/2024 Snippet, CALL OF THE MOON-BEASTS.
Getting into it.
Patreon!I do not understand people sometimes, Commander. By now Tobias could hear the emotional overtones in Asenath’s voice. He supposed she had finally automated those subroutines, which was nice. Did she not understand that you are in an existing relationship?
“She did,” Tobias muttered. “She just didn’t know how seriously I took it. Now she does. — So, next up is… Marcin Grabinski, yes?”
Yes. Painter and mathematician. Refugee from Baza Heweliusza. Technically the highest remaining POLSA representative who remains accessible to us. Tobias found Asenath’s pauses considerably more ‘natural,’ now. I do not understand why he and the other Commonwealth refugees did not throw in with the Europeans.
“I’m not,” Tobias muttered. “I’d tell you to remind me not to bring up the subject, but I don’t need you to. Anyway, he was doing stuff with asteroid mapping, if I remember. Nothing theoretical.”
I put up the proof copy of DARK HISTORY on Patreon.
Dark History should be available there if you have a paid subscription. I’m going to give it another look-see tonight or tomorrow and then put it up on DriveThruRPG. Lemme know the typos I missed. I know that I missed some, because you always do. By now it doesn’t even bother me.

I’m hoping to have DARK HISTORY done by Sunday.
Normally it would be ‘done by Saturday,’ but Saturday is the MD Renn Faire. I’ve got most of the illustrations made, and… yeah. There’s a reason this sucker’s only going to be 99 cents. I’m not saying they’re wretched, but I’m leaning heavily on manipulating the public domain clip art; and brothers and sisters, but it shows.
Tentative cover art:

Again, not wretched, but… I am a writer, not an artist.
So, they canceled VELMA.
The funniest thing about this is that they didn’t cancel VELMA because of any big controversy. They cancelled VELMA because that’s what happens to all streaming shows these days after two seasons. The algorithm giveth, and the algorithm taketh away, and taketh away, and taketh away.
Almost a shame, really. I was really enjoying not watching the show. Guess I’ll have to start not watching something else, now.

I am aware that the Mets have, well.
This awareness of mine has done the Mets no harm. I will continue to maintain this awareness, in precisely this way. I make no commentary or speculation of the future.
That is all.
