I believe the best way to control overpopulation and the pressures of population on the food supply is female empowerment. Allowing women to take control of their family's economic future encourages them to make healthier choices. Economic development, especially development that provides access for women to capital and markets, is known to slow the birthrate and result in higher standards of living for their children. Fewer children means fewer mouths to feed and a lower impact on the global environment.(less)
