They spoke of mundane things such as the weather but in a rather overly formalized way. Perhaps three minutes passed by. Not more.
He then turned to walk away without having said much of anything but stopped. "Don't forget about the package."
She closed the door with a firm intention.
"What does he mean by 'package'?" I asked.
In my mother's fading British accent she said, "He departed some time ago."
She died a few years later and I never learnt anymore but it always puzzled me. (less)

Non-fiction allows my academic curiosity to find an outlet--a kind of food treasure for the mental mind. Fiction on the other hand, has a deeply intuitive, even meditative quality to it. In fact, I cannot write fiction unless I am deeply relaxed without stress in my life. When writing fiction I feel at peace with great pleasure afterwards. And, of course, one of the best things about being a writer is that the craft can be done anywhere; a wonderful excuse to take yourself to exotic locations. (less)
