Leah Solmaz is an actress, filmmaker, and writer. She was born on 27th January 1991 in Birmingham, England and at the age of nine, she moved with her family to County Cavan, Ireland. Leah lived in Ireland for nine years, completing the equivalent of her GCSE’s and A-Levels before returning to Birmingham in 2009 with the dream of becoming a screenwriter. A chance conversation with a family friend propelled Leah to take up acting instead and in 2010, she completed a short-term, drama course with the Birmingham Theatre School.

Leah’s first success as a writer came at age twenty-one when she co-wrote her first, independent, feature film, called “Checking In”. The film went on to win Best British Film at the London Film Awards in 2014. Leah has
