Denise A. Agnew's Blog

May 30, 2017

So howdy all! Where have I been? I noticed that my last blog was March. A really long time ago. The only reason why it has been so long since I last blogged is…well, okay, more than one reason.

Reason 1

General busy took over. Just stuff. Writing stuff, producing stuff, screenplay writing stuff.

Reason 2

Laziness and lack of enthusiasm for blogging. Yes, I’ll admit it. As a creativity coach I saw myself becoming more and more lazy all the time and something gave way. It was the blog!

Right now I’m playing catch up after a trip to Colorado to visit family and to watch one of my grandson’s graduate from high school. Travel tends to suck the life outta me, and the laziness I’ve mentioned above threatens to take over again. But I blogged today! Yay!

While certain types of slugfest was going on in April and May, I put together the Haven Trilogy. The Haven Trilogy (formerly called Redemption Ridge Trilogy) is a series of short novellas all taking place in the general world of a small town. I wanted to release the stories again, and you can find all the links here in case you didn’t pick up the trilogy before. All three stories are in one ebook.

Other plans? Complete another draft of a horror screenplay, write a story for a horror anthology that comes out this fall, and continue to plot world domination with my production and film and television partners. How fun is that? Plus, I’m changing my newsletter. That’s another reason why you haven’t seen a newsletter from me in I don’t know when. I hope to have that set up by July sometime. Fingers crossed.

Cover goodness! I finally thought of a name for my novel set in Indonesia during the eruption of Krakatoa in 1883. Swept Away (formerly called That Novel About That Thang). I decided I’d have a cover created even though I haven’t finished the book. It’s motivation. So here ya go. The cover was created by EmCat Designs.

Thanks for indulging my lazy, and I’ll talk to you again soon.

Fear comes for everyone and now it’s your turn…

Wait For Me

Wait For Me

They’d locked horns in high school.

He was the self-assured hockey player next door.

She was the creative actress and a cappella singer.

As adults they are still at odds, but in an instant they’ll forge a bond to survive their darkest hour…

Executive legal assistant Veronica Henderson didn’t want anything to do with cocky SWAT officer John Mendoza even though the attraction she felt for him all those years ago remains piping hot. Fresh from a sore breakup, she’s called off dating men.

John’s interest in Veronica is off the table. A stinging divorce has left him raw, and he won’t take the chance on a serious relationship.

Then Veronica awakens trapped in darkness, her thoughts scrambled until she remembers the explosion that ripped apart the court house. Is she the only one alive?

When John’s world implodes, he awakens in the dark unsure if he’s dead or alive. Until he hears Veronica’s voice and realizes he’s not alone.

Pinned in the rubble, their connection could be their only chance of survival.

February 20, 2017

Howdy all! It’s been a long time since I posted to this blog. Primarily because I’ve become so busy with multiple projects it’s a bit scattered. Not complaining at all. Much of my busy is a good thing.

Publishing, if you’ve been in this business long enough, throws punches. Last year I had two publishers close and early this year another closed. I’ll have books at Liquid Silver Publishing, and I plan to self-publish as much as possible. What this means is I have a lot of books waiting in the queue to be released again. Here’s my loose plan.

Publish A Little Bag of Horrors, Volume 1 (Horror Anthology) probably sometime in March.
Publish the Hot Zone series again. Some of the series has been in limbo for almost a year. Not sure of the time line on that, but I’m thinking before summer. I have covers, I need to format the books and they’ll be ready to go.
Publish Wait For Me, a short romance/suspense novelette. I hope to do that before this summer. It’s a new story.
Publish a collection of three short stories that are romance/suspense oriented. The titles have been changed, but these stories were out before. I haven’t done a cover or covers yet. I’m thinking because they’re so short they need to be in one volume.
Publish my Dead Days series. These four novels are set during a zombie apocalypse. They’re told from the first person point of view of the heroine in each story. They’re definitely romances set in an apocalyptic setting.
Publish (again) Dark Deadly Love, For A Roman’s Heart, and Before The Dawn. The great news is that Samhain Publishing is giving me the covers. I’m hoping to publish them by April or May at the latest. These are three huge favorites of mine, so I can’t wait to get them back out there!

I am also working with Happy Catastrophe Productions on more than one television series, and for the first time ever I’m writing a screenplay for a horror movie. It’s also possible it will be a book one day. Wish me luck!

Last but not least I would love to finish my Krakatoa story which I think I started way, way back in 2014 and never finished. GASP! I know. It’s rare for me not to finish a story, but it does happen. Since I love writing historicals, I really want to finish the as-yet-untitled story.

That is all I can think of at the moment, though I feel like I’m forgetting something. No worries! Talk with you again soon!

January 10, 2017

Hey all! Sometimes creative life takes new directions. This quick note is to announce the formation of Happy Catastrophe Productions with writing and producing partners Marie D. Jones and Brian Keith Ellis. Yay! Putting Producer on my resume isn’t something I imagined in my life, but there it is. We don’t have all of our official stuff up yet such as website, business cards and all of that jazz, but that will be in the works. We’ll develop projects for film and television. Right now we’re working on our own projects.

Early last year my creativity took a different direction. Marie optioned Blackout and Love From The Ashes for television and film and that started a new creative movement in my life. I started working on horror and less romance (although I’m not dropping romance all together). Over the years I’ve discovered a few creativity truths for me. Whenever I concentrate on what “feels” right for me to pursue in a writing direction, the more opportunities come my way. So I’m sticking with that formula!

As soon as I have more to announce on Happy Catastrophe Productions, I’ll be sure to let you all know.

Laters taters!
