Sparrow
By L.J. Shen

4.5 stars

Review:
This Is the first book I have read by the author and I really enjoyed it. I am a huge fan of organized crime/ mafia romance, and I have to say I am going to check out the authors other books, that's for sure.

So the book starts out where Sparrow and Troy are getting married. But it's not your typical wedding, you see it's an arranged one. Out of the blue Troy walks in and demands her hand, while sparrow on the other hand thinks why her? He doesn't love her, and when they knew each other as kids he would not give her a second glance. She knows something is up.

Troy I had a hard time liking. He was the typical lone wolf, being the son of a mobster. After his fathers death, he makes a list of who was involved in his dad's murder. But the way he treated Sparrow in the beginning was a hard pill to swallow. But little by little he slowly fell in love, and that scared him. Troy is the type of guy that doesn't know how to love or wants it. But when Sparrow walks into his life his world changes on its axis.

I really liked Sparrow's character. She was tough as nails, and that's how I found this story really unique. She has been through so much, her childhood was a mess. A dad who is drunk all the time and a mom who left them at age three. But she stood up and kept her head held high.

The chemistry these two had was off the walls. Between there love/ hate banter the sexy scenes were very steamy.

So many twists and turns.
Who can Sparrow Trust?
Why did Troy ask for her hand in marriage?
And most of all will Troy and Sparrow have a happy ending, or will their marriage go down in flames?
Read to find out!

*Recieved an arc, in exchange for an honest review.*

This series is described as deep dark romance, well the first three books I can honestly sat I didn't notice the romance part. I spotted a glimmer in the fourth, this one is the final of the five part series (so Far). We do get some love and romance in this one, mixed with the violence, abuse, rape and the seeming never ending fear. This one also contains barbarianism and cannibalism, you need a tough stomach at times reading this. We get answers finally on both the betrayals within the bikers and with the undercover agents, the violence is still horrific beyond belief. Despite all of that I did actually enjoy this series, it opened my eyes to things that really happen in true life not that I would want to be any where near any of it. Its hard to imagine reading some of the horrific things these bikers do to Abigail or each other and finding any enjoyment, but its the overall story that follows through all the way. It gets you intrigued, puzzling, wondering then you just have to keep going to get the answers. So finally summing up the whole series, intrigue, mystery, betrayal, hatred, murder, guns, drugs, rape, extreme violence, foul language and last a slight softness just creeping in with a little love, understanding, a small bit of light. But this ride isn't over yet but its now a wait until the next part, will Abigail, Justice, James and the others ever find some peace? I shall stay tuned for news on more.

This was an Arc Copy for an Honest Review.
Lots of action from the get go, this is a Biker MC story and you get what you expect. Violence, ambushes, guns, drugs, rival gangs and biker wars. As well as that you get a guy standing up strong and proud to protect a woman, claim her to keep her safe. There's sex and swearing, exciting bike rides and chases. I found this book to be the sort that keeps you on the edge of your seat and reading to the end. Its also a little different from BB Hamels other books that I have read, which have all been step siblings. This isn't, its two people that knew each other a bit when they were growing up and go in other directions. They meet up again by pure fluke. Great book and story. (less)

This is the second part of "Picking Up The Pieces" and continues from where the first finishes. This one is not quite as heavy as the first, there are still on going issues to be completed but not as much violence or abuse . Adam and Kaylee are moving forward in their relationship, and finally start getting some answers to their questions. There is a bit more going on with other characters as well in this one which leads us into the third book. You do need to read the first one in this series and follow it through, they all interlink with the story. A great read ,one I thoroughly enjoyed and I have already started the next one. (less)

reviewer was given a free copy for an honest review.
Gosh ! this story was heartbreaking at times, I had tears running down my face. Danielle goes through so much heartache, let down, hurt and trust thrown right out the window by the one person that had promised never to hurt her. Its hard to say to much without giving the story away which I don't want to do, what I can say is I read it in one hit. I finished it at 12.30pm after starting it at 8.30pm. It was that good I had to finish it, I just couldn't leave it till I knew the outcome. The first half of the book Danielle is still in her last few years of high school, things change and we jump 4 years. It is a very different life by then, though settled she is still coping with the issues left by the past happenings. This is very raw and intense, it is a tear jerker on many levels. I wanted to give this girl a hug and tell her she would be ok, that everything would work out for the best in the end. So powerful, and there is some violence as well as rape and being snatched. I loved it so much I just want to read the rest of the series now. Thank you Shelly for getting in touch, I'm glad I was the one that saw the message and agreed to read and review for you. It is an amazing , sad and at time overwhelming story, one that I am more than happy to recommend to others.

This is an ongoing story that continues in the next book. I could empathise with Kaylee, her grief over losing her dad hit close to home for me. Her boyfriend is an assh... ,he certainly doesn't deserve someone like her. He made me angry, thinking she would just take and put up with anything he did to her. Adam on the other hand well he is a special kind of guy, he worships her nothing is to much trouble. The violence, abuse, rape and mental cruelty are at times hard to read. It breaks your heart, especially when you know Kaylee is already struggling blaming herself. This is a very powerful story covering some extremely intense issues, things that nobody should ever have to deal with. I don't want to go into to much depth or give away the story, you should read it for yourself and learn all the secrets and lies. It isn't what you think of as a romantic story, its to gritty for that and there is so much else going on. That's not to say there isn't any romance in the book, there is but it is mixed up with everything else. Kaylee's friendship with Alexis is strong and loving, there's understanding and support that means everything to them both. My overview is that this is a very powerful, deep and sometimes disturbing read but it is one that is well worth it. I look forward to continuing with the next part.

This was an early copy read for an honest review as part of release blitz This is an MC with a difference, it's run by women. It's full of violence, blood and guns. The rival male gangs are full of infighting over control, women and territories. The whole story is based around the main character Rage, she has spent years as a mother and wife then is betrayed. Her life changes and spirals out of control, losing everything she try's to find a way back. Joining Hell on Heelz MC , living in fear, uncertainty and not knowing who she can really trust. Existing in a day to day, doing as she's told chaos.
Violence, murder, rape and kidnapping are all a big part of this book, the rivals taking what they want when they want. Rage meets someone from one of the other gangs during all this, there's a spark but both have their own issues and problems to deal with. Can Rage learn to trust and love again, there is so much to overcome.
I read this not sure if a woman's mc could work in what is traditionally a male orientated world, but by the time I was a few chapters in I forgot all that. There didn't seem to be a great deal of difference, the women and the life are hard. Though I do feel that with the men there is a bit more of a brotherhood, more standing together more support.
Its a great story with all you expect from this type of book, the writing flows through continually apart from early on. That being the moving on from wife/mother to a drinking biker chick who has lost everything. I felt I would have liked to have had a little more of that area and not just jump pretty much straight from one to the other, with only a small amount of reference to what had happened. But that is just my opinion and other than that very minor part it is a very good book and I will certainly be getting others in the series. Hell on HeelzMorgan Jane Mitchell

this book was an arc read, given for an honest review. intrigue, mystery, crime and sex trafficking are the main basis of this story. With the Titan Team joining forces with MacKenzie security to bring down those behind these horrendous atrocities, but all is not what it seems with one member of the Mercier family. This is intense book, gripping the reader from the first page to the last, there is violence and hate and a long build up in sexual chemistry. Cristen does a fantastic job of combining her own team with those of Lilianna's , keeping all the things you expect from both authors and making this story believable and authentic. Its hot and passionate in both the relationship between the 2 main characters and the actual topic . You almost want more to have it go on just a bit longer, get a bit more of a fix from these hot alpha males from both teams. Having read all of the Titan books and the MacKenzie ones I can say well done to Cristen I loved it Cristin HarberDelta: Rescue: A MacKenzie Family Novella

Review

This was an early copy given free to read for an honest review.
This book deals with very deep issues, PTSD,ABUSE, VIOLENCE, DRINKING,DEPRESSION and GUILT. The author has researched well the affects of PTSD in the military returning home from war, trying to cope with all they have seen and had to do while serving in combat zones. Side affects of this can vary from person to person, and how they deal with it . The degrees of distress from the side affects of abuse of both the physical and mental variety leave their own forms of PTSD. the two main characters are both dealing with their own forms of this and the varying side affects that result from it.
Both are studying a subject that brings it very close to home and often acting as a trigger, making it hard to concentrate and stay focussed. The story is based around them meeting, recognising and helping each other learn to find ways to deal and cope both together and alone. It is a dark read at times lots of thinking on by both characters, but it is a great story opening up into something very special. It is worth reading at times when you have quiet and no distractions as at times it does need concentration, especially in the early chapters. But it is so worth reading giving insight and understanding for people that suffer through this on a daily basis, its well thought out and handled in a sensitive and compassionate way. I am definitely glad I read it (less)

exciting, powerful story full of action, angst and love. I read this in 2 sittings, I did not want to put it down. I was often on the edge of my seat, not just when guns were going off but on the emotional side as well. the worry, love and uncertainty that the 2 main characters have for what is being thrown at them. you also get some of the nerd side of things, computer jargon though I understand the basics, when it comes to the more in depth stuff well leave it to the experts. but that takes nothing from the book only adds another dimension. though a military theme it takes place on home turf, there is shooting and some action scenes. there is fear of the unknown, of being snatched and the overwhelming need to protect those you love. I love this series, and even more I loved this book, as always Kaylea understands her audience and gives us a gritty, intense and loving story

although this is the first one in the series that I have read (there are more before this) I really enjoyed it. obviously injured in the war while serving abroad, Stuart has his demons. Dealing with the pain from the injury he is still fighting to get over using pain meds and booze to get fit enough to go back. He wanted to be a lifer and has no thoughts on doing anything else, let alone having a relationship or staying in his temp career as a security guard for those with money that need protection. Mariska is loving, special and dreams, she has a very strong connection to Stuart but can she help him. It is nice to read a book from this perspective, the struggle with pain and coping with getting off meds which have caused a dependency. Often in books these alpha males are strong and pain, recovery etc don't seem to even enter into the story. Whereas in true life its this side of things ,no matter how big or strong you are, that actually cause the problems. well done to Tia Louise for actually writing about this aspect, the healing, the crippling agony of dealing with this and also discovering other ways of finding relief. A great story of courage, love, strength and faith. the sex and the romance are all an added bonus

oh boy Cali ! this the 2nd part of the Townsend twins is just as hot and steamy as the first, the twins still hiding the fact that their are 2 of them sharing Phoebe. Also hiding the hidden demons that haunt them both from their past, Phoebe scared that Kevin will find her but also that if he does he will hurt the man she knows as Jackson. I love this story with all the underlying history of abuse and mistreatment on all 3 of the main characters , will Phoebe react badly when/if she finds out the men are actually twins and they have already been sharing her. I do however wish that I had waited, buying the parts and keeping them to read once the whole story was out. I hate the waiting for the next part when you are left hanging on the edge of a major part of the book, if you haven't started this I would recommend buying but wait till the rest of the book comes out, that way you can just read straight through from one part to the next without the breaks. it is well worth it, I will just have to re read the whole thing but that's no hardship either (less)

Another great stepbrother story from BB Hamel, Easton ex FBI trying to get his PI business going but still haunted by his partners death at the hands of a serial killer. Laney, still studying but needing a summer job preferably to gain experience in the field. She comes home after being told there's a job for her doing exactly that. The first time they have officially met as step-siblings, its not long before a local murder stirs thing up. With this as the backdrop we get hot sizzling sex scenes and sparks a plenty, Laney figures there's much more to the murder but what? There's lots of twists and turns to this story, some that I a mystery loving buff didn't figure. As with her previous books you get some violence, lots of filthy language (mainly in the sex scenes), its gritty with some thing to hold your interest right the way through. I loved it as I have all her previous books and would recommend to anyone that likes a good romance with a bit of murder mystery thrown in (less)

talk about save the best to last, wow! I was torn between wanting to cry for the women, worrying over the men and cooing over all the babies. All our series characters are in this, the last in the protecting series, its intense and grips till the last page. I struggled to put it down, it brings home to you how scary it is when your the one left at home, trying to keep it all together when the teams have to go on missions. especially ones that are extra risky, not knowing but suspecting where they are and how bad things are in that area. for the guys having to leave and knowing that though they will try their dammed best they might not make it home, and if they do they may be hurt. also missing important moments family wise while they are away. this series has had me enthralled from the first book, I have gone through a wide range of emotions reading each one. if you like military based stories you should definitely read this series, amazing, gripping intense, loving, scary. the strength of the bond that the women have as well as the team that help get them through the tough stuff, supporting each other all the way making sure no one gets left out or behind ever by @Susan Stoker
