Douglas Alan Burton is a speaker, author, and expert storyteller whose work depicts heroic figures and their deeper connection to the human experience.

His forthcoming novel, 'Far Away Bird,' which centers on the early life of Byzantine Empress Theodora, was nominated as a finalist for Book of the Year in historical fiction and Best Debut Novel for historical fiction 2019 by the Coffee Pot Book Club. The novel also won the grand prize for historical fiction in the Writers' League of Texas 2019 manuscript contest.
